AVR with COS on file / visa stamping

We are US residents, and we were on L1/L2 visa. Spouse's company has applied for Change of status to H1/H4 visa.

Once the transfer process is completed on file, can we travel to Canada for our PR landing and avail AVR rule to travel back to US? Has anyone tried this before with COS on file? If so which port of entry did you travel through?

If we were to try to go for visa stamping in Canada would that work given we are Indian citizen and have never had H1/H4 visa stamping? Has anyone tried this before?

Yes, once you receive H1/H4 approval notices with I-94, then you can use AVR.

I have seen many people post about this over the years. Port of entry will not matter.

Port of Entry shouldn't matter here. CBP conducts inbound immigration in major Canadian airports and you land in US as a domestic passenger.
