Hello Everyone !

I have a question regarding the ARC.
I'm sponsoring my husband and he had an interview like 7 months ago.
The interview went well and we received the pre-arrival letter 1 month after the interview.

The agent said to my husband that he needed a ARC but he had to wait till the Mexico VO send a request to pay the $400 fees and the ARC letter.

We patiently waited 7 months after the interview.
We also sent 3 emails to Mexico during that time to see whats hapenning with our file and we always received back the same answer «your file is in process»

We recently received the REFUSAL letter stating that they are refusing the PR request because he doesnt have an ARC.

I sent an email to Mexico telling them that we were waiting for the ARC request and how come they refuse the app without giving us at leat 15 or 30 days to send & pay the ARC?!?

And the answer to my email was: « The decision whether or not to request an Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC) is discretionary »

We are really frustrated.
What do you guys think? Is that normal ?
I'm reading all your comments in this sections and it seems that everybody received the ARC request from their VO.

OMG!! I pray this doesn't happen to us.

Hello, i have received a letter for me to apply for arc(special letter to submit why i should given the right to return,pay the fee) I got a departure order then turned into deportation due to wrong information.
I am being sponsor by my husband(AINp last stage) I am reading tips that will help us to have a positive ARC application.
Please need help...

My husband's case was also bumped up to deportation order.

I know what it feels... but at least they requested the ARC and you should be happy for that.
In my case, they just REFUSED my husband's PR application because he doesn't have an ARC but they NEVER sent us an email requesting the ARC (and we were waiting for that).
When I asked the MEXICO V.O. why they didn't give us the opportunity to send the ARC, they said « The decision whether or not to request an Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC) is discretionary ».
So.. just be patient dear

Hi Lisa,
Yes I appealed the refusal.
But also after the refusal, I sent an email to Mexico VO with a letter of reconsideration because it was so unfair that we didn't get the chance to apply for the ARC.
We recently received an email from the VO that they reopened the file and they are giving us the chance to apply for the ARC.
So, I guess the officer made a mistake because many people (Lawyers, CIC customer service, IAD customer service) told me that it is almost impossible to reopen a file after a decision is made unless it's their fault.

& I withdrawed the appeal.

Yes I know it's crazy..
At the interview, the officer clearly said that my husband had to wait till the VO request the ARC fees + Letter.

Then, we waited for 7 months... and SURPRISE! the refusal letter stating that the PR was refused because he doesn't have an ARC.
We were so so frustrated

I completed my medical on 18th so just waiting for PPR I will keep you posted

Hey guys! Back in 2012 my mother & I were ordered to leave Canada as refugees which we did and paid for our own tickets. I was underage at the time, around the age of 15.

2 years ago my mother applied for a visitors visa to visit my older brother who is now a PR, she was requested to pay the ARC which we did and it was later accepted and she was granted the visa (She did go visit and return). Now my brother has applied to sponsor us and we have arrived near the end of our application (background check) but CIC is requesting my ARC fee which we did pay the day they requested it. My only fear is what are the chances of my ARC being denied and ruining our entire application? I was underage at the time of deportation and now I am a dependent on the application with the main applicant (my mother) who had already received her ARC.

I feel like my chances are good due to my situation of being underage at the time and my mother already being granted her ARC but from the amount of comments that I have seen saying that ARC is nearly impossible really makes me worried.

I applied July 2018, just got redo medical last week, feel like waiting forever..
