I have stayed in developing country for 25 years, Australia 2 years and Canada 3 weeks.
Canada Australia
Grocery Nominal Nominal
Mobile Phone/Telephone Very expensive[1] Very cheap[1]
House/car Insurance very high[2] nominal
Tax 13%[3] low
Rail Network OK-OK Very good
Jobs easily get survival jobs Require hard effort even
for survival jobs
Pay rate survival jobs $10 to $14/hr [4] $12 to $20/hr
Unemployment 8.2% 6%
1. I suggest all Australians migrating Canada to bring their mobile phones. plan in Australia cost $30 to $50/m. Here its $40 to $60/m. There are some plans which even charge you for incoming as well(strange for a developed country). In Canada their are long distance call applies after every 40 km. In Australia you call any where in Australia with the cell phone no roaming applies no long distance applies.
2. House tax of about $400 to $600 or more per month. Car insurance of $200 to $300 per month.
3. Govt is purely looting on every thing you have to pay 13% tax. All the items displayed in market are not showing tax. But when you purchase that item you found that you need to pay more. In Australia every item on displayed include all the taxes.
4. Canada got very low pay rates as compared to Australia.
But I still prefer Canada compare to living in developing country. Thats my personal experience as compared
