Ok. Do you think by July they will clear all the back logs and send more invites?
Aus visa is an ongoing process. I have seen applicants getting PR approval within 10 days to 6 months and beyond. Most of the cases get approval within 3 months. Certain number of them wait for 3 plus months. Anything beyond 6 months is extremely rare.
Fresh cap opens in July. Every invitation round has a specific number of invites per occupation. They do this so that visa for a particular occupation is available throughout the year.

Actually we totally fell in love with Sydney and Melbourne when we visited there in Jan for our validation trip. I kind of almost forgot about our Canadian application in process when I was there. :p After endless discussions about Canada vs Australia with my wife, we decided to do an in-depth comparison Excel sheet on every damn thing in each of these countries, from job scope to salaries, cost of living to travel time, climate, taxation rates, healthcare, education etc etc.

Incidentally, travel time to India is not that significantly shorter from Sydney, by the way. Sydney to Delhi takes 14 to 16 hrs by flight whereas Toronto to Delhi takes 17 to 19 hours. Shorter, yes but not significant. Time zone difference is significant though. 4.5 hrs vs 9 or 10 hrs.
Mind sharing that spreadsheet? :p

One more question. I am a Electrical and Electronics engineer with 11 years of developer programmer. Even though my degree is irrelevant to my Occupation i have done a diploma course which is relevant to my occupation. Even after that, will they cut 4 years of my experience? or is there any advantage of having that diploma?
You will lose 6 years of experience. And get 10 points for the remaining 5 years of 'relevant' experience.

Correction here. For 5 years work experience it is 10 points.

4 years for those with bachelor's degree (ICT major).

Whether EEE will be considered ICT Major or Minor depends on the course content of your degree. It's assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Hello all,

I just read through this post and want to see if I can apply for Australian PR. Thanks a lot to jairichi who has been really helpful in this thread.

I think some of the people on this post are wanting to apply for Australian PR, I was wondering if we would want to form a Whatsapp group to help each other out?

Thanks.

Jarichi, there are many cases of Australian PR approval taking more than 6 months.
I, for once, have applied on 11th October and last CO contact was on 5th November. I replied to CO request dame day.

Since then, nothing.

I know at least 30 persons from the forum (expatforum) who have exceeded 6 months.
For a couple of them, it is more than a year.
Whenever they called DIBP to get some update, it is always the same response: "Your application is under routine checking".

In Australian PR system, there is nothing like GCMS notes. So the only way to know your status of your application is to call them.

I have applied for both systems, to increase my chances, as I am now 35 and waiting more will drastically reduce these chances.
But my first choice is actually Canada as:

1. I prefer cold weather to hot weather especially after 11 years in the United Arab Emirates. Also, Canada's pristine nature and greenery are irresistible for me.
2. My kids go to French Schools making their integration in Canada quite easy comparing to Australia
3. Trips from Lebanon to Canada are slightly shorter than from Lebanon to Australia
4. There is so much prejudice against Lebanese in Australia so I prefer to go to a place with a clean slate
5. Many of my friends are in Canada while almost none in Australia

I have also looked into Aus PR as option but my professions is not in both the lists (SOL and CSOL)

Does that mean i am not welcomed by Australian Government?

I am into Supply Chain for the last 8 years but i hold a none managerial position

What are my other options for Aus PR?

What about your spouse's occupation?

Denmark green card is even better, all you need is a Masters degree, 6.5 on IELTS to score qualifying 100 points and CAD 9900 as settlement funds.

Can qualify without any work experience.

Good to know.
But I am concerned that the moderators of this forum are going to disable/remove this thread as it is talking about non-Canadian related things.
But its very informative! Thanks to all the contributors!
