My people,
I applied for Permanent Resident Application and have just been sent my medical forms for me and my family members. However, my wife have just started a course of study three months ago in Sweden and may not be able to travel with me to Canada immediately until after the completion of the program in about 12 months time. Given this reason, can I alone submit my passport for COPR upon successful Medicals for me and my family while I submit passport for my wife and kids for COPR in later date to enable them join me later in Canada after completion of her course? What options do I have to achieve her completion of the course before coming to Canada? I am mindful of the fact that if applied for her COPR together with mine, it may have expire before her completion of the course and free to join me. What can I do? Many thanks for your quick response!
Dear Eye Opener, Welcome on board this forum page.
Firstly, accept my congratulations on the receipt of your medical forms.
With respect to your thought of submitting your passport & that of your wife & kids seperately upon receipt of your PPR, I strongly advise against it. This is to allow for speedy completion of the work on your family's file at AVO. It's best that the whole family is treated at the same time, as any delay like that which you are suggesting, will retard the progress of the entire family file and may inadvertently send a message to AVO that you are not ready to go on with the process.
My advice:
(1) Let everyone get their visas ASAP after arrival of PPR
(2) The Principal Applicant can land to prepare for the rest of the family
(3) Then your wife & kids can make the trip just before the expiry date on the visa (usually 12 months from the date medicals was done)
(4) Get the PR Card either in person or by proxy
(5) Then she can go complete her course before coming over finally.
Hope this is of help to you.
Take Care & Keep us posted on the progress of your application at CIC/AVO.
