We submitted our application online on 2nd August received AOR on 14th , my wife received invite for test on 16th Oct but me and my children have no updates.

I applied Aug 14th and got AOR on the 21st and since then have had nothing, also. seems most peoples are quite a but quicker than this but maybe i'm one of the ones that might take a wee bit long or is somehow stuck or lost. Time will tell. I am watching other peoples timelines closely to see if mine is line with others.

My file says updated Oct 15th but I don't see anything, but in my wife case it is same and she received invite for test.

I believe thats what people call a Ghost update, things may start happening for you in the coming days/weeks

Yes this is normal, you & your wife will have different timeline except till you both reach the oath and both you will schedule the oath together

for minors, there will be no update till the oath schedule

My husband's background check was completed on the 15th, but mine is still in progress.
Had a ghost update this morning on both trackers, but only his got updated. Oh well!

Test was updated to In Progress on October 10th!
My window is from October 18 to November 16.
