What was the question you asked in your web form? Sometimes if you are not specific enough you may receive a generic response
This is what I asked-

I want to know if my eligibility and background check have been passed. I wonder if any other documentation is needed from me to facilitate the progress of the application. I will eagerly wait for the response.

You can order gcms notes if you want details...

Got it. as @stefi2020 mentioned about Gcms Notes, that is an option.

About asking if any documentation is needed is not going to elicit a response to the question or at best a generic response of little value. Also about background check, instead of asking that ask specifically about security, criminality, info sharing... which is what makes up background check.

Best.

FSW-O
VO Ottawa
AOR - Aug 12
MEP/BIL - Aug 31
ELIG - Confirmed Pass Sep 16
Nothing since, criminality/security not started

Anyone ordered GCMS Lately? I ordered mine on Feb 10, should i expect them this month?

Thanks!

Hi,
My timeline is somewhat similar to yours. Could I know how did you get to know he VO?

Just got off a call with IRCC

AOR - Aug 9
VO - Ottawa
Category: CEC (Inland applicant)

Eligibility : In Progress
Security: Not Started
Criminality: Not Started

My criminality status is running backwards, it was Passed in December, changed to In Progress in Feb and now it is Not Started.
In addition to the above my background check status is not in progress like everyone.

Note: I dint get any GUs since November 5th.

Biometrics
  • November 5, 2020 Completed.

Background check:
  • Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check.

Is anyone on the same boat ? its really confusing.

Background check is a generic term for criminality check, security screening and information sharing. IRCC, CBSA and CSIS work together to do immigration and citizenship screenings. Once Eligibility is passed by an officer then Security will start. Learn about all the stages of an application in detail at https://bit.ly/37nCTJD

Good to know people are seeing progress :)
What was your AOR? And when was your MEP/Biometrics?
Also, are you an outland applicant or an inland one?

Hi @legalfalcon when a file is at a Visa office outside of Canada, like Mexico City, is the decision made at that VO or is it transferred to a Canadian VO for final decision?

Immigration files are transferred between visa offices for a wide variety of reasons; due to workload distribution, office specific requirements, such as local knowledge required at the local visa office (LVO) to verify details. See the section of IRCC website for details about transfers

This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.

Visa applications are routinely transferred, and some applications can be transferred after a decision on them is made at any VO in Canada, others can be transferred to a LVO where the LVO will make a deiciosn.

Also, it is not uncommon for PPRs to be sent by VOs in Canada before the file is transferred to the VO in your country of residence.

So instead of relying on what VO your file is at, looks at what stage the processing is at.

Thanks @legalfalcon . Your posts have been really helpful.

I have a question, if u don't mind:

Is it normal for LVOs to send out AORs like the one some of us received earlier this month? What could it mean?
