Hi @legalfalcon I am CEC Inland applicant. Last time I checked with IRCC all my stages have been passed and waiting for final decision. Meanwhile my company has applied for work permit extension. Do I need to raise webform and let IRCC know about this WP extension application? Thanks for your help!

You do not have to inform IRCC as they already have this info in their system.

In such cases, can company force employees to file for open WP on their own, or they have to do close WP if PR application is in process and existing WP is getting expired ?

Please help with this query @legalfalcon

A company cannot force an employee to file a OWP. A BOWP is an applicant's choice and most companies will just renew the Closed WP.

@legalfalcon I have a technical question. I would really appreciate if you take moment and help me address the same.

My PR application is in progress under FSW - O category. My Spouse is principle applicant and I am dependent. Meanwhile my I am trying to get employment opportunities with my existing employer in Canada before PR approval.

In the even I get the job, my company will sponsor work authorization for me as GSS intercompany transfer. I understand PR and work Authorization are independent event and both should not interfere with each other.

I would like to know in your experience have you seen such cases. Is there is adverse impact of processing both things simultaneously ?

You have answered the questions already. They have no bearing on each other and will be processed independently.

I would guess by early next week everything will slow down to almost a halt until 1st/2nd week of January. So if we don't hear from them by then we shouldn't expect it will Jan/Feb.

Hi @legalfalcon
I applied for PR in 2018 and was denied as officer believed I did not have sufficient work experience in primary NOC. I applied AOR Aug 14th 2020 and in application highlighted my prior denial. However in the application I forgot to mention the denial of a student visa in the past. I realized this error and raised a webform and submitted a letter of explanation explaining it was an honest mistake forgetting that visa refused. On August 28th the webform was acknowledged and forwarded to the respective

Seeing that I’ve reached the four month mark and eligibility hasn’t passed yet, my question is... would this error of initially forgetting the student visa refusal cause issues in passing eligibility? The status update from Mexico City said “pending eligibility review.”

Since you have disclosed it, it should not. The general processing times for all programs have increased. As per the 2019 annual report the average time now is 8-9 months, and this was pre-covid. Currently, as COVID cases increased starting October, and more cities entered lockdown, all IRCC services have been impacted.

How long did it take to process an Express Entry application?
Table 35 displays the time, in months, that IRCC took to process 80% of applications under each program. In 2019, IRCC did not meet the processing standard of finalizing 80% of all applications sourced via Express Entry within six months. The processing time for Express Entry, overall, was eight months. As an alternative measure of processing times, 60% of applications finalized in the 12-month period ending on December 31, 2019, were completed within the six-month service standard.

Subsequent to this, IRCC also published the evaluation of Express Entry upon the completion of 5 years of express entry in May 2020. A lot of recommendation have been made in it.
