Do they usually update on ECAS after sending a test invite letter?
I'm just worried that my mail could be missing and never know about it.
Hi, I have seen other applicants previously say that their ECAS status has remained the same after an invite, while others have seen a change as soon as a couple of days after. It seems to be dependent on the processing officer. If you have a concern that something has gone awry, then it is worth a call to the CIC helpline just to get them to have a quick look at what is happening on your file.

Guys I applied for Citizenship on June 2018 and received the AOR on Aug 9th 2018.. No word until now on the Test date.. I am really concerned as my passport expired too last Month?? Would an expired passport have any effect on the processing of the application?

Finally temporary site is allocated for Kelowna for July15 to July19
Hopefully we will get test date invite in mid June right @littleun ?

Great news that at least Kelowna now have temporary site dates on the horizon. :) My understanding is that the minimum notice the centres / CIC are obliged to give to applicants for the test/interview is two weeks. Generally it seems to be between 2 weeks to a month before the test/interview dates applicants will get an invite via either email or by post. Good luck for July :)

Hi, thanks for the question. Sorry to hear about your situation. I am not aware that an expired passport would be a problem for your application in itself - but would be a problem for you of course if you plan to travel outside of Canada in the short term. I am not sure when you went 'In Process', but in your shoes I would call the CIC centre just to check that everything is progressing as it should and to put your mind at rest. One of the other applicants may be able to offer more advice on this. Sorry I can't be of more help. :(

Here are a couple of more details about my application (Any advice or your experience would be appreciated)..

Received application on:- June 13th 2018

We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on August 10, 2018

We started processing your application on August 21, 2018.

Hi Danielari2016, what is the current status of your application under processing category? How long is it taking for urgent processing?

It is in process, don't know how long will take. depends.

Hello everyone,

Trying to finalize what I should take for the oath ceremony.

In the invitation letter they mentioned

All of the original documents in your possession – Immigration Record of Landing (IMM1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM5292 or IMM5688);

 Permanent Resident Card (if you have a landing document and a Permanent Resident Card, you must bring both of them);

 All original passports and travel documents in your possession (current and expired);

I do have a COPR that I got during my Permanent Residency and was signed by an officer during my landing at US/Canada border. I also have a valid PR Card as well as all my current and expired passports.

1) But which one is the landing document? I don't think I have that.

2) Also is travel document the same as PR card?

Would highly appreciate some information.

1) CoPR is the landing document
2) PR card is not a travel document. That would be your passports. PR Card lets you enter Canada but it won't be accepted as passport equivalent for traveling.

@GeoCanadian .. didn’t you say that you got an oath date already? But you submitted the PR renewal application yesterday ? Why ? It could trigger unnecessary delays ?

Hi there @k300k3 - no I have not received an oath ceremony invite. where did you read that? :) I wish! :) I just passed the citizenship test only few days ago on April 16th. I don't even see the "Decision Made" on ECAS yet. Since there is no telling when the oath ceremony will take place and because I may have to travel for a scholarly conference at the end of May, I am playing safe and requesting PR Card renewal on April 4th. There is no issue with this - there is no delay associated with a PR card extension request when it comes to the citizenship process.

By the way, my application for the replacement PR card was approved and the card was sent out on April 16th. That means it only took less than two weeks for my application for the replacement PR card to be processed.

Cheers...

Hi @purplenyc22 - If you have not done so, inquire with the IRCC about the reasons for the delay as soon as you can. Use their online platform: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

Good luck!

Make sure you have all passports - old and new, that cover the period since you became a permanent resident. And, don't forget to print the invitation letter to the test.

Good luck!
