Congrats! Can I ask if your partners car was in Canada the whole time unimported? Did it have American plates for a while? (if so how long?) Has anyone ever given you hassles about the plates? Sorry for all the question, I ask because I have our car listed as a goods to follow because I need a bit to get together the import papers (and export papers for the US) and I haven't had a chance yet. I was hoping to drive up to get my SIN # next week and come back to the US before we officially move in June.

Same as Juniorrlopez. I had mine up here from December 2015-July 2016 and never had an issues even after having an accident. Again, make sure you let you insurance provider know before but other than that, it won't be an issue.

Today we flagpolled and officially Exported/Imported my partners car. All went well. Officers at Sweetgrass (on both sides) port were awesome. Very polite. It was an easy process. In and out in about 10-15 mins. Good luck to everyone!!

I've been in Manitoba since May with California plates and have received no hassle whatsoever, even after having got rear ended. Just make sure you let your insurance know before hand and that your registration does not expire.

We just got our PPR email last night too! We are so excited!!!

Except I was so excited, when we got the photos taken, I immediately put them in the package without writing my name or birthday on the back of one of the copies and I am absolutely distraught. I'm terrified they are going to take a month to contact us for more photos. It is so frustrating It is such a small mistake, but it is probably going to cause so many issues. It is more annoying because we, like everyone getting these PPR emails, already sent photos (at least those were correctly sent).

I just don't know what to do I was so excited to get approved and now I am just crushed because it is going to take ages

UPDATE!! Just wanted to let everyone know that I contacted the Ottowa office about my error. They informed me that it should be okay and that they will be able to use the photos without the birthday or name! However, I think this is only because it is the final step. Everyone should absolutely sign their photos and put their birthday on one of the copies when initially sending in the app.

I read somewhere that the name/birthdate on the photos is just used in case they move the photo and it get's lost amidst all the other applications so then they would know whose picture is whose!

Awesome! I assume the photos have the date they were taken and the location they were taken written though right? I think this is what they care more about than your birthdate.

Yes they do! He stamped them in everything! haha like I said I was just so excited that I put them right in the envelope and sent them away haha.

The only goods we had was the car itself. No taxes had to be paid on it. I will be honest, importing the car has been a serious pain in the ass. Ugh.

Yes, there are at least a couple companies we found that insure US titled/registered vehicles. Don't have the list on me, though.

Do we need to send the CSQ to CIC by mail in addition to sending by email? After reading the email request I received it seem like I only needed to email them my CSQ. Thanks for your help!

I honestly don't think so.. but I did it just to avoid them asking for it.

I'm 99% sure that both addresses end up in the same office/hands. The courier if anything might get them opened a day earlier as I am sure they don't check their PO box multiple times a day. It's the same thing for mailing the original applications, one courier address and one PO Box but they end up in the same place. The non-Canadian address also says "submit all materials by mail in a single package and send to The Following address" so not sure what you're trying to point out. I get the worry but honestly I would bet a 99% chance it would be fine. Heck I mailed my Annex A accidentally without the barcode (something meant to expedite the data entry) and there was no delay in getting my COPR. I feel like we are over thinking this lol. The ONLY reason they have a separate "non-Canada" address is because they can't accept courier mail at their PO box and non-Canadian mail is by default courier. They don't expect people within Canada to use a courier, but there's nothing saying they can't. It's a non-issue in my opinion.

We ended up using XpressPost after all, but I think you're right in that it would have probably ended up being handled the same way. We were able to get one day XpressPost by driving 15 minutes into the city. We mailed everything yesterday, and it arrived today.

While I was on my way up to Canada, I kept bugging my husband to check the forum for updates about whether anyone else was receiving PPR e-mails.

The forms are called BSF186 and BSF186a. You can find those here: http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/menu-eng.html I believe you do have to have the import paperwork at the flagpoling, but perhaps you only need to list the car (and then bring it later?).
