Just checked MyCIC and my wife's medical is under review, hooray!

Review of medical results: Review in Progress

No AOR1 though ???

Haven't received any AOR either. They received our application on August 15th. Medical exam was changed to "Passed" last week and upon checking ECAS yesterday, it says that they started processing my sponsorship application last September 2. But then, again, no AOR.

I guess not everyone gets the AOR1 for whatever reason.

Not sure why they would assign an application number and start the medicals if they hadn't received the application yet.

Good news though that the application is being looked at.

Hate to sound impatient, but I wonder what's holding up my sponsor approval. It's currently 34 days after they received our application, and while the estimate for sponsor assessment was 36 days (I think) when I submitted the application, it appears to be only 29 days now. Others, however, seem to be getting SA sooner than either of these estimates who share the same VO with us.

I've never received social assistance, I'm a Canadian citizen by birth, I've always resided in Canada, I've never sponsored anyone before, and I have no criminal record. I got AOR1 relatively quickly, which seems to suggest that my sponsorship application is "complete", so no documents should be missing, incomplete, or without a signature (which I've checked thoroughly thanks to this forum and the guides).

The only thing that I can think of that might be concern is that I'm a 22-year-old university student and I've only ever been employed during the summer months. However, from my understanding, there's no minimum financial requirement for sponsoring your spouse. Plus, I'm graduating university this year and I got my parents to sign a notarized letter saying they'd help support me and my wife if we needed it.

Our relationship does have a couple potential red flags, but my wife and I provided ample evidence using suggestions on this forum. I don't even think that CPC-M really checks the relationship-side of things.

You should be ok. I am a full time graduate student and was given SA with no problem whatsoever. I only work part time casual in the university and it was never an issue. Good luck.

Call CIC and find status

I might call the CIC just to ask. I don't get why they wouldn't send an AOR1. Unless they are just bad at imputing information! It doesn't make sense to me that some people can link their account, but not ECAS, or ECAS, but no linking, and no AOR1 and blah blah. Why are there so many errors everywhere! I guess i just have to try to be positive!

luckysomething: I wouldn't worry. You could always call and ask though. I completely understand being impatient (I check ECAS quite possibly 1000 times a day, lol). I noticed that it took extra time for them to notify me via letter as the SA notifications are sent out in batches - the approval actually happened earlier than that. It took 56 days for me to receive the SA email.

Updated Sponsored Spouse For Outland Application in Aug2016... :o

i Hope August Applicant don't worry on this updates...

Generic Application Form for Canada [IMM 0008] (PDF, 495.67 KB) August 2016

Nooooooooo
Will they request us all to resend this form? Does anyone know? I think I read somewhere that this happened to April applicants and they had to resend the updated form :'( :o

I hope not! That would be really evil. Haha I don't think I would worry about that though, because some people already received AOR1's and everything and they submitted it mid-august!

SA received! I did not think I would receive it this late in the day (4:17pm MST)

Very happy. I can log on to ECAS but have had no luck linking yet to CIC, will keep trying.

Good luck to all the August applicants!

I understand your frustration 100% when it comes to linking. I am thinking there must be an error somewhere as I have entered the info just as on my application (IMM0008) and still nothing. I have just received my SA and still cannot link. Makes no sense to me. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I'm kicking myself for not calling them today, since I'll have to wait till Monday, but I thought the call centre was only for inland or applicants that went past the estimated time AND couldn't access ECAS.

Hope everyone else has better luck!

Good news! We were finally able to link our application via myCIC this evening after several failed attempts. The combination that worked for us was Family name and UCI (which I had from a previous study permit application), and just passport information, no place of birth. Still no AOR or ECAS, but at least it is something! :)

Hi Wind23 or everyone who may help me out?
I tried to call CIC for an uci number but I quickly found out that I can't call them from overseas. Is there a number I can contact CIC from outside Canada. I'm desperate to link my status so I can follow the process without depending totally on my representative. Thanks again for any help.
