I hope I'm eligible to be a sponsor because I don't have a job. I'm a full time university student living with my parents. I'm unemployed, don't have kids and neither does my spouse. He's from the US. Just wondering if not having a job would ruin my position of being able to sponsor?

Hi!

1) The review of eligibility entry on MyCIC is for the PA, not the sponsor.

2) As long as you aren't on welfare, you should be ok to sponsor. There's no minimum income requirement for Family Spousal Outland.

The AOR1 is typically coming 3 weeks after receipt of your application by CIC. (Haven't got mine yet, still waiting).

The Open status on the MyCIC I think just means that the application was given an application number. Does not mean AOR1.

The submission date on MyCIC is just the date you linked your application. Mine is August 23rd but my application was received August 17th.

Hey guys, I know I said before I wasn't able to link my application but I finally did it. I had to try many options. I used Application Number & Family name (so I used my spouses last name) and for the amount of people included in application I put 2 instead of 1, and it worked.

Also, it says medical exam "passed", and application status "open".

My application was delivered August 10th
I got an email stating my application was received on August 10th. The email contained my UCI & Application number on August 31st
I was able to link my application Sept 5th
Got approved as a sponsor and application sent to Ottawa for processing today (Sept 6th)

August 10th: Package delivered:
August 31st: Application received/email confirmation
Sept 1st:Call from CIC to fax over sheet with missing signature (IMM 5409)-- (I thought I wasn't supposed to sign it because the area was greyed out- since it didn't apply to me, but never the less, I faxed it over the same morning
Sept 5th: Able to link application to CIC using Application number and spouses surname instead of UCI and
Sept 6th: Received SPONSORSHIP APPROVAL, -- meaning I am eligible to sponsor my spouse .... Application sent to Ottawa for further processing

*I'm unemployed, haven't worked in over 2 years, I'm 22, Univeristy student and got approved as a sponsor

Things moving pretty smoothly, and I'm glad the lady was kind enough to call me instead of ship my whole application back. She even called back to let me know she received my fax. It all depends on the person you get!
