The one upside to that, I guess, is that you can get an envelope that has tracking, whereas the envelope they'd normally mail out wouldn't have that.
Good point! Bright Side! :D

I checked the people from September who got really fast approvals (DM in early December). I don't think they had to send photos. I'm wondering if there's a time element involved. Like if the photos are past a certain point, then you get asked for them.
If the photos were more than 6 months old, then you get a request for new ones.

Mine were dated sometime in August. They are at max 5 months old. But I got a request anyways.

That's the problem. The request for additional documents my husband got was through a message in MyCIC, not an actual e-mail to his e-mail address. But there's a spot in MyCIC where I can upload them. I called to see what to do and they said I can upload them in MyCIC where it says to upload the required additional documents and that I can also use the IRCC case specific web form. So I'll do both.
Hi I also just got this request from my CIC that I reply to an email that does not exist! I am having trouble finding the place to upload the document on MyCIC, could you help me in figuring out where it is that I upload it onto my account? Thank you so much!

In anticipation of your PR Card, they need the most recent ones. Your previously submitted photos will be more than 6 months old by the time your PR Card is issued. Don't worry about the pictures. They ain't gonna request them if they don't need 'em.

My husbands were done middle of September right before we sent in his application, and he too has to do new ones and send them in as well.

Good for you. Any clue as to how long this process takes? Was really hoping to head for the border early next week to flagpole and to export/import vehicle.
It's not all bad news! I have read that even non visa exempt PPR requests have a less than 1 week turn around time. I believe we literally would have our COPR mailed back within 1-2 business days from when they receive it. Personally for me an extra week or two isn't a big deal so I am just going to do FedEx ground both ways. Right now it cost me $20 USD to ship to Canada via FedEx ground and return is $16 USD thanks to the currency exchange. Round trip was $36. I printed them on Fedex.com. Priority was somewhere around $100-$150 EACH WAY so for me $36 sounds much nicer than $300. In all honesty I have shipped things to Canada and Fedex Ground only takes 3 business days so its not a big deal really. If you're in a rush you could pay the premium for priority but I'd rather save that money for other things than to get my COPR 2 days earlier. Now I just need to figure out where I can get the passport photos done to spec...will try USPS tomorrow!

I just got the same email. I'm going to call them up tomorrow. It seems weird you require 2 passport photos. The passport photos should only be required if you have a non visa-exempt passport as they need to print the Visa in your passport. In our case, they have no reason to need the passport photos. Based on what the instructions say (they are poorly worded) we may not need to send the passport photos. I'm going to call and see what they say...I feel the bureaucracy will require them anyways...
Hello everyone, we're in the same boat with the same confusing email! Our photos were done in September, but....

1) what address do we send them to?
2) how long do you think before they review and send out COPR?

knowledge101 I am so looking forward to your sleuthing by telephone! we oughta take up a collection around here for you!

Do they actually care what address it's coming back to for the prepaid envelope? Like does it have to be the PA's address? Or when the time comes, can I just have it sent to my husband's house in Ontario? We left the photos with my husband to expedite mailing them off if it would come to that (which, there's no way it won't, as I had my original photos done in July before you guys did). His mom works for Canada Post so it's much easier for her to mail stuff than it is for me to get stuff mailed from here. Also, aside from the photos and the copy of the passport (and the return envelope) is there anything else that needs to be included? I've seen people in the past mentioning needing to include a copy of the PPR e-mail.

In some ways, this process makes me feel better. Knowing that I'll receive an e-mail with a specific process to follow will allow me to set a solid timeframe for giving notice to my daughter's school and finishing up everything on this end before my husband's family comes down to help me move.

1) It lists it right there in the email:

CPC – Ottawa – PR
365 Laurier Avenue West
Ottawa ON K1A 1L1

2) Usually in a few days from what I've seen.

I'm actually not going to call. It seems they need it for the PR card so I'll just send in new photos

Also, for those having trouble reading the email, use the print feature of your email client. Mine had trouble formatting it but once it printed it out it looked normal. (Or use a PDF printer)

It doesn't say so I suppose it can be sent anywhere.

FYI I just used this to make the passport photos:

http://www.idphoto4you.com

I selected Canada passport photos because that was the only one with the correct size according to the spec sheet (5x7 cm). Then it will generate for you 4 passport photos on a 4x6 image you can print for 29 cents at your local CVS/Walgreens/Rite Aid, etc. I know the thing says commercial photographer, but I am doing this in case no one here will do it. I will then write the name of the printing place on the back. Since it doesn't require a signature, and I have a DSLR + Flash that is much better than any local pharmacy, I figured this was an alright thing to do...

That's an interesting option. That very well may work.

I hope you can find a place that will do them to the proper specifications though.

I keep thinking that what would make sense is if the people who handle your landing would also take photos. That way they're definitely getting a recent photo, and people from other countries aren't scrambling to try and find a place that will meet those specifications.

Well the point is the website makes them to the proper specifications and it will give you 4 photos of that exact spec on a 4x6. Just printed it today for 29 cents! Going to cut them and write the proper info on the back and mail them in today, wish me luck! This way any photography studio would only need to take the picture for you if you didn't want to do it yourself and they can use that website to generate the passport photos for you. Only option at this point honestly...

I asked someone from another group. The address doesn't need to be the same with what they have on file. So if you fill up a different address in the Annex A form, they will send the COPR there and later your PR card too (if you don't update it).

Aside from the photos, the original/copy of passport, the return envelope, don't forget the Annex A form!
