It's Singapore VO, I thought I read it wrongly but they even state each country and what are the procedure to submit the passport. It seem to do with eTA.. I might be wrong. But I wonder anyone have such encounter.

Gosh.. should I go see my MP? I believe he will be in office today or tomorrow.
So I assume your citizenship is from Singapore? If you need an eTA to enter the country (Canada) that is probably why (not 100% sure but it is probably the reason). No don't see your MP, you're literally almost done! Mail them your passport with 2 passport pictures as requested. You should get it back with your COPR in just a couple of weeks. If you contact your MP it might take months and may not actually help you. Just do what you've been told and it will be done soon! Decision Made means your application was approved and this is why your got a request for passport (PPR).

eTA require our original passport? So they are going to stick eTA slip on our passport, is that why they ask 2 empty passport pages? Well, I am just paranoid mailing my original passport , heard so many missing cases.. u never know. Yes, I am from SG

I would say the majority of all people who end up getting a PPR are required to send in their passport. This is not unusual, and to be honest, mail these days is VERY reliable. I mail and received HUNDREDS of packages and letters every year and have not had 1 package lost in maybe 5 years. Just make sure to get it tracked. They're not going to put the eTA in the passport, they will just be printing the Visa in there that allows you to "land" officially as a PR. This is why they need 2 pages. This visa is your "eTA" essentially. It serves in place of it.

OMG you guys BACKGROUND CHECK just started TODAY!!!! Like literally just now!

I'm so nervous though! A couple reasons why:
- My husband's medical expired in October and his non-accompanying dependent's medical expired in December BUT MyCIC says passed. I wonder if they would make him do it again??
- He has a charge on his juvenile record (from over 10 years ago) but it was dropped. He does have Nexus so he has gone through a background check in the past. But I still can't help but worry that it might be a problem

Ahhhh I'm freaking out! So excited but also worried!!

Congrats!!

1. Not sure about this. They may or may not make him redo it. Have to wait and see.
2. NEXUS SHOULD help. When he did NEXUS did he have to provide court documents for the charge? If he did, there's a good chance they have them on record and won't hassle him. No guarantees though.

Either way, that's great news for you. Worst case he will just need to provide a new medical/court documents but it shouldn't delay you that much. That being said, best case scenario is you get a DM in the next few days assuming they already have the court docs and the medical isn't an issue (but again not sure if they will request a redo of the medical or not, I have seen some people have to redo it). The good news is in my experience, those with NEXUS do not wait long for a DM because they have already gone through a background check and in those cases I've seen a DM usually within a week of background check (sometimes as fast as next day!) Don't quote me on that, but I would expect it to be fast!

THANK YOU!!

Yeah, if he has to re-do the medical then it's not a huge deal. Hopefully he won't though.

And yes, when he did the process for Nexus he was asked to provide the court records to prove that the charges were dropped. Once they reviewed those, he was approved. We also included all these court documents with our FBI check in the sponsorship application package.

Well then the background check won't be an issue and should be completed quickly. I did some quick research for you and it appears that the medical exam might be an issue as they cannot issue you the Visa/COPR without a current exam.

That being said, there is a work around!

Look into this ASAP:

From what I saw, some people had only a DM on ECAS with no change on MyCIC even after receiving COPR, some people had a DM on MyCIC with no change on ECAS. Some had no change on either and both still showed processing but received COPR/PPR anyways!! So I wouldn't rely on the online system here on out. As long as you got a DM on one, your COPR/PPR "Should" have been mailed within 1-3 days and be received in 1-4 weeks depending on distance you are from Ottawa. Generally speaking it seems the COPR is mailed either same day or shortly after DM (within a day to 3 days)...which means we could expect it in the mail any day now!!!

Also some lucky few received an email notifying them of the COPR being mailed, but this was rare and most never received one, so don't expect an email but if you do it will only confirm your suspicions that it was mailed.
This is interesting. I seem to remember when a bunch of July applicants from the U.S. started getting DM a while back that people were being asked to provide updated passport photos prior to the COPR being issued. This was concerning enough to my husband and I that when we were up in Canada for the holidays my daughter I pre-emptively went and had new photos done so that if they asked for new ones we wouldn't have to worry about finding a photo studio in the U.S. that would be willing to do those specifications. I'll be curious to see what's going to happen with all of you.

That's actually not a bad idea. My husband is visiting this weekend actually for a few days so maybe I'll have him take some photos just in case.

Interesting, most of the ones I saw were June applicants and earlier (the June applicants getting the COPR in October 2016). No one mentioned photos. You sure the July applicants you're mentioning were US citizens and not just US residents? Because non-US Citizens will need to send in their passport (PPR) and that makes sense why they needed photos.

Digging back into the July thread specifically, I found the one person I recalled. The person mentioned that they had sent in photos with the initial application, so they weren't sure why they were being asked for them again. I swore I saw more than one person, so it may have been spread across multiple threads, maybe somewhere in the U.S. specific one for outland applicants. Either way, it was concerning enough to me to stick out in my mind. They were asked for photos on 11/16 and received the COPR in the mail on 11/28. They did not have to send in a passport. It's enough of a concern for me since I'm not reasonably close to the border that doing another set preemptively wasn't a huge problem.
