You won't have to send your passport. Sometimes they asked for new passport photos or more copies of your passport bio pages. I'm not sure why they do that or if that's more common than just sending the COPR though. Maybe someone else has some input.

The forms are called BSF186 and BSF186a. You can find those here: http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/menu-eng.html I believe you do have to have the import paperwork at the flagpoling, but perhaps you only need to list the car (and then bring it later?).

I'm not sure what you're asking in your first question. But as for proof of funds, I don't think you need to prove anything about your funds during landing. It's a very simple process. I hope that's what you were asking.
Thanks!

Hi guys I need some help.

Dear XXXX
This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada.
In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:
XXXXXX
Court record / Police report: Provide an original police report or court records for all charges listed on the FBI.
The above information/documents must be received in our office within 30 days from the date of this letter.
If we do not receive a response within the time allotted to you from the date of this notice, a decision will be made based on the information on your file, which could result in the refusal of your application.
Please reply directly to this email and put your application number in the title.

IS THIS ASKING ME FOR the original certificate from the FBI? I'm confused on what this is asking for. I sent in the the FBI Police Certificate up front with my entire package, is this asking for something different? I'm confused.

Was there anything on your FBI report? Any charges or arrests? If yes, they want the police reports on those, or court records..

Plz Help me understand this.

I sent in my application and after a week i was able to link it to mycic.
Then after another week mycic app status changed to Application status not available, Pls try again later.
When i saw this i went to see my postal box and found they have returned my application because the postal box of my wife was missing. I wrote one and sent it back and they recieved the appliaction the next day.
So i am wondering, are they going to update the old mycic account that inlinked in thrfirst place with the XF00 file or they are goint to create a new one and have to search and link it agin???

I assume in our case (US Citizen) there is no PPR right? I've heard its just a letter in the mail? That would be nice.

Also...we live about an hour from the border (Vermont). We also wanted to flagpole because we won't be moving until sometime in May (we didn't think it would happen so fast so we are just glad it is!). From what I understand when you flagpole you need to declare all the items you plan to bring in the future when you move (so you don't get taxed on them)...is this something you're preparing? I believe there was a form for this I just can't seem to remember where I found it. Also for the car, I assume the import paperwork needs to be done when we do the flagpole as well?
This is what I have been told. That we would just have to go to the border. Pretty sure that is what Flagpolling is. We will have to anyways as my partner has been here in Canada - with his car the whole time and will need to 'import his car'. From what I am told, we just get a letter in the mail.

Congrats knowledge101 and stevin! Can someone explain the difference for a US citizen who will drive into Canada between flag poling and landing when they are ready to stay? Any good links on it?

Yeah, I couldn't easily find any links specific to family class, but I found that info on a family class thread on this forum.

Does anyone have links for proof of funds for landing as family class?
I was not aware of any 'proof of funds' necessary for family class. Also, found this info about "Landing" don't know if this is what you are looking for specifically though.

Hate to sound like I am complaining, but my Background Check has been in process for a week now. I am not complaining, just concerned. Would reallllllly love to see that PR status before Xmas!

And my neurotic habit of checking my status online has only gotten worse since Background Check started. I'm driving myself nuts!

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for a while. I've been extra busy with work and travelling quite a bit to visit my husband in the States.

Just an update on me, or lack thereof... I STILL have yet to receive a formal SA letter/e-mail although I know I'm already approved as a sponsor. I called again at the end of October and they were able to tell me that our Visa office is Ottawa and that it's being processed. So frustrating but happy to know it's in Ottawa.

Also, my husband's medical expired on October 19th. On MyCIC, it initially said passed but then after October 19th came and went, it changed back to not needed at this time. I don't want to have him do a new medical just yet in case they are nice enough to extend his old one. I did, however, have him do a new updated FBI police check which we have. I'm just wondering whether I should wait to get a request from them or just send it in with a letter explaining that it's a newer one.

Anyway, so happy to see that a lot of you have seen quick movement in your applications!! :) :)

I want to keep my profile on the left hand side as updated as possible. Even though I haven't received a formal SA letter, I know that I was approved and they started processing my husband's (the principal applicant) application on September 15th. Should I change the file transfer date to that then?

From what I've read by others it can take 2-4 weeks. Apparently Ottawa is taking longer than normal when you go into Background Check...no longer the 2-3 days now its normal to wait 2-4+ weeks so I would say you still got some time before you can worry :) Hopefully you get something before Xmas!

I'm also over a week now. I agree with knowledge101, it seems the average wait time for background checks has increased a lot at Ottawa. It could also be increased more if you've lived in several different countries. I hope you'll hear something soon! Good luck!

Yes Yes Before Xmas would be marvellous. To be honest, I was hopeful of the 2-3 day thing. Should not have got my expectations up too high. Eek. Frantically checking CIC multiple times which is not helping. LOL.
