my office takes 14 months too, and my VO AOR email said the exact same thing.
Is it too naïve to be optimistic?

ps: hubby said he'd rather get the PR around March next year, so that he can avoid winter in its entirety : lol, priorities!!

I think it's good to be optimistic! But don't put all your eggs in that basket in case it's a big disappointment, but hopefully for an 8 month total processing time rather than 14 months I think is perfectly acceptable!

ps: Your hubby might have it right LOL! I lived in DR for the past 3 years, and let me tell you, it's only December and it's already freezing to me! (I work at a school and have to do recess duties outside ) so he might have the right idea there LOL!

pps: Yesterday morning my ecas changed to Decision made, so ecas wasn't far behind in the actual goings on of my husband's application.

Every time he has work meetings online or talks to his family, he doesn't fail to mention how nice the weather is here... lol, he's really enjoying the fact that he's avoiding a terrible Winter in Edmonton!

I'm trying to be patient about the time they might take to process my papers here in my VO. Even though I would like to get an answer in record time, March/April sound pretty good too!

Hey folks, got a question

So I received an official ppr (via Nairobi VO), including the attached letter with the request and everything, on December 3rd (last monday) My husband immediately went to get it fedexed to them and it arrived (according to tracking) on Friday morning. TODAY I got an email, almost like a reminder to send the passport - no attachment, just written in the message portion. Anyway, the concerning part about the email was that it said:

"As the address we have on file is in Canada, kindly provide a prepaid courier
coupon from a recognized company (DHL, FEDEX, TNT, UPS etc....) to facilitate
the return of your documents."

Which is true - my husbands mailing address is mine here in Canada, because where he lives (Uganda) mailing addresses are very rare, even residential addresses are hard to come by - so we're using mine.
When he sent the passport, he included prepaid postage for it to be returned to the fedex facility he sent it from - they would notify him that it had arrived and he would go pick it up - we did not plan for it to come to Canada - because honestly that doesn't make sense.

I emailed nairobi VO back to see if it was okay to just go back to the fedex office in kampala instead of here. But i'm wondering, has anyone had an issue like this? are they strict on sticking to the mailing address on file?

Seems not. I guess some people have now moved onto their local VO thread which I suspect is more relevant now that most people have got sponsorship done...

There's no Santiago thread (and only like 3 applicants on this forum), so I'm keeping my eye on THIS one

There's no Santo Domingo thread either (although there is a large group of us on facebook) so even though my husband has his visa, I'm still interested in knowing what is going on with everyone I started with. I'll keep you company Kyc! Hope you get some news soon! Hopefully all the other latin visa offices take a note out of the Dominican book!

I moved to WA state so I could visit more often and knowing what they would ask and why was so helpful and made a much more peaceful crossing. I have finally filed my packet in august and they have approved my sponsor - I think in sept which seems really fast. So I will update this when I can verify all the dates and follow along with all of you while we wait.

I've been hanging out in the Ottawa thread and the US Outland thread, but I still check in here when there are updates =)

I haven't heard anything yet but from how things are going in the April and May spreadsheets, and the Ottawa spreadsheet, I'm hoping that I'll have my PPR by the end of January.
