Any document you send needs to be CATEGORIZED and scanned and put in the system, even the envelop that you post your documents. If you make GCMS request and ask for all relevant doc, they send you everything. So, when an officer open you envelop and see to many unnecessary docs you will be put on hold and he will work and another application. They don’t slow down their process.

The processing junior officer is not the one who makes decision on your file so it will be useless to send anything that is not asked for.

And you know all this how?

I am not encouraging people to send more than requested. I am just trying to clarify if I should be worried that I sent the COPR along with my application. Thanks

Absolutely not. I did the same thing - in fact, I advised people to do so based on the updated guide. There is no way this will result in your application being returned.

Thanks for the swift response. Do you know what IRCC is trying to get from tax filing?

1) Were you supposed to file
2) Did you file?

Basically: If you were supposed to be filling and paying tax, have you actually been doing it? I.e. being a good Canadian ;)

I have been filing for 6 straight years now; since I came into Canada

In continuation of documents and checklist, I need to ask one thing:

1. Do we only need to send the biographic pages of passport, like the first 2 pages, or do we also need to include the stamps?

Thanks,

Biographical pages are only the pages that give information about yourself, not the pages with the stamps

Was just wondering if they were trying to find out about something more than just filing. So they are not trying to use that to interpret incomes?

Incomes have 0 impact or effect on citizenship.

I requested this info through privacy act and got them all(for my PR)

Don't get me wrong, I understand what you mean about not sending unrequested documents. I was not quote the poster that wanted to send utility bill and all that. I was just trying to figure out where I stand. I sent in my application when the instruction guide still say: include copies of one of the following from COPR, PRC, and all, so I included COPR and PRC, maybe for personal identification. I just don't want to think that I have messed up the application as a result of that. I definitely know that sending utility bill and all is way out of line. What do you think?

I did the same, It's not even an issue. Stop worrying yourself and enjoy the beautiful day.

There will be many who sent COPR, because it was in the application guide at that time.

Basically, IRCC will verify residency information of citizenship applicants through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Remember you filled out all your work study history, and provided all the addresses in the form? When you file taxes you take T4 slips (employment income) or T2202 Education slips etc to the tax man, CRA has all the information about your school and employer. So IRCC will just verify that with CRA information.

For more information please check: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/cit/grant/residence/tax.asp

IRCC is responsible only for assessing whether the applicant met the income tax filing requirement of the Citizenship Act. Citizenship officers are not responsible for interpreting the Income Tax Act to determine tax compliance.

Whether you earn one dollar or million dollar will not make a difference!

Just follow the checklist. Attach on top and check mark things included and applicable.

In my experiencd with IRCC, just send what the forms are asking for, man. Because you make a problem for you when you send more documents than requested. I did that, and my PR process was suposed to take 12 months, but they pushed it to 26 months because they began asking irrelevant question about the “extra” documents I sent without anyone asking them for. They were like: “yeah, we need to verify with your renter and make sure you were at the address... Just look suspicious that you sent all this documents, so we picked your application to be verified on the information throughfully...”

So, the learning experience from that for me was:

“Just answer what is asked to you and send only the documents the application ask”

Another of my friends was more unlucky and they send his application back because he sent documents that were not requested for, and he lost the processing fee money that time....
Agreed.
