Hi everyone, I applied through the AIP program in PEI. I will share my timeline now, however, it has been almost three months since we gave biometrics and nothing has changed, I would like to know if this is normal....

Feb 28 PR application on IRCC portal
Mar 21 AOR
April 11 BLI received
April 18 Biometrics Given

Nothing has changed since then, this is the actual status:

Review of eligibility
  • We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.
Review of medical results
  • You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes.
Review of additional documents
  • We do not need additional documents.
Interview
  • You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometrics
  • We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check
  • We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
Final decision
  • Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

Is this normal? Should I contact IRCC?

Thanks.
any update on your application?

It’s incredibly frustrating to face such delays, especially when other streams like Express Entry seem to process much faster, with some applicants getting approvals in as little as three months. On the bright side, having your Eligibility passed is a positive step forward. However, the added challenge for applicants from certain countries undergoing comprehensive background checks makes the process feel even more unfair and inequitable.
update:

March 19, 2024 application submited
May 28 AOR received and I scheduled biometrics for the next day
May 29 Biometrics done and confirmed by IRCC
October 17 ADR requested (letter of employment confirming you are still working and job description, pay stubs and tax forms from Canada and my country for the last 2 years, and IMM 5669 with information since I was 18)
October 24 PAL received, in the same week I called IRCC, and I was told that eligibility and info share was complete, criminality was in progress and security not started.
January 9 FD and P1
January 10 P2
ECopr waiting

I feel you! But this is odd because I've seen applications submitted in May 2024, and they have already progressed, finishing that month and moving forward to June. You should have received until now.

Hello, i’m just curious about the PAL? I googled it and it said it’s for International Student applicants, i’m applying for PR through AIP (inland). Am I supposed to be issued that as well?

The PAL for permanet residency applicants is a different thing, Look for Pre Arrival Letter, once you have your eligibility approved, you will receive this email even if you are already in Canada.

I finally know what PAL means other than the one for study permit!
pre-arrival (was the old term used) and it really doesn't mean anything for family class (which is my usual section). It can come any time or never.

Your timeline is similar to mine. Based on the current processing trend, IRCC is reviewing applications submitted at the end of May. For July applicants, processing might take about 1.5 later, likely around mid to late March. Around that time, you may receive an ADR (Additional Document Request) or PAL (Pre-Arrival Letter).
However, this doesn’t mean your application is finalized—it just indicates that processing has begun. If your file doesn’t go through a comprehensive security check, you could receive your PR by May or possibly later.
