Dear All,

Kindly help me with my query regarding option C Printout.
My wife was doing part time job in canada in 2013 and at the same time she was taking social assistance also.she left job in september 2013.
In may 2014 we got married in pakistan and from august 2014 I started sending her money and she stopped taking assistance from october 2014 onwards.
Now can my wife apply for option C print out?
Pls remember my wife was only doing part time job and her income was not enough to pay tax and last year she only applied for good tax return but never paid tax on her income.
Pls help me how she can get option C print out?
Here I want to mention that I live and work in dubai and she depends on me now and for few months she is living with me in dubai under my sponsored residency visa. After few months she will go back to canada and then we will apply.

Have the sponsor call Canada Revenue Agency and ask for an Option C printout. That is the only way to get it regardless of what the situation was back then.

Your will have to complete all tax returns (T1) for any incomplete years in order to receive an Option C.
Even if you make a low income and don't pay much or any tax, this needs to be indicated via the Option C.
The Option C is a form indicating all records (tax returns)are up to date with no outstanding balances.
(That doesn't include foreign investments and other stuff, this is income-related).

For my Option C I had to complete a tax return for the last year I lived in Canada (2008). I hadn't complete it because it arrived and was due after I had moved overseas and wasn't in Canada.

I had to call Revenue Canada from overseas on my own money and get them to send me a T1, all T4's, etc., fill it out, send it back.
Some things I was able to scan and send by email but ultimately I had to do it by snail-mail.
All forms can be printed off the Revenue Canada website.

After that I was able to get an Option C.

If your wife has her taxes all up to date (has filed for all years she received income and received T-forms etc) then she can get an Option C immediately.
If there are outstanding tax years where filing hasn't been completed this must be done prior to receiving the Option C.

I forget exactly what I did.
I think I called one of their numbers as listed on the CRA website.
If you call, your account (SIN) is required for them to look at your file.
They will transfer you to someone you can speak to. Eventually I did speak to someone at CRA and they were very helpful.
After that I communicated by email, but, when you send an email and they receive it, they don't email back, they will always call you at the number you provide.
Or at least that is what I was told. Even though I would send things I would always get a call-back, so anyway make sure there is a number where she can receive calls reliably.
