Hi all,

My application for residency was received by CIC 23rd of Sept 26th. My police cert is from July 16th 2016. Today I received an email to send on my police certificate but I already have done so. I dont understand why they would be asking for it again - any suggestions anyone?
I am the principal applicant and my Canadian wife is looking to sponsor me. The letter reads "The principal applicant ( and all family members 18 years or older) - does this mean my Canadian wife also has to submit a police certificate? I was told no initially but now I am not so sure as why else would they be asking for a police cert again !

Many thanks as always for all your help - any help would be great.

I just received the same email it seems, my application was received by CIC on October 6, 2016. My police cert is from April 28, 2016. I was about to ask the same question.

I received that same email today. My police certificate was only a few weeks old before I sent the application in october 2016. It does say if you've already sent it then please disregard but it's a stressful email to receive. What if they've lost it? How do i know whether to disregard unless they confirm they have it haha. And they're not exactly cheap to get.

I'm not sure if i should do nothing, send another copy or apply for a new one. i've read on this site that a few more people has had the same email. ???

It looks like it was a generic email that was sent to everyone that applied roughly the same time as us all. I wouldnt disregard it as you never know what they would then do. I am simply going to send them a note to say that it was already submitted and send them a copy. For those that dont have a copy I would suggest to reply anyway and say that you already have sent it and asked if they dont have it on their files to contact you again. One of my friends did this and they wrote back to say they had it I dont know why they do this to us all - the whole process is stressful enough without added another complexity that we dont need ! Best of luck everyone :)

Police certificates generally expire within 6 months.

Will you be sending a photocopy copy? or the an original copy? I think i paid extra when i got my PC to get two copys so i should still have another one, but its my last one so i dont know if to just send a photocopy.

At the bottom of the letter it should state : If you have already submitted police certificates as noted above please disregard.

At the top is will say : If you have not yet submitted the following documents , you must submit them.

Guys, I got the same email from IRCC. I already sent my police certificates (Chinese and Canadian) at the very beginning of submitting my application on Dec 1, 2016. So, I do not need to do anything, right?

No you don't have to do anything.

There is no direct email address to use. In the letter they sent me, I was advised to use the case specific enquiry form - sorry I dont have the link handy but you should have it in the pdf if you got the same letter.
Although they said to disregard if you have already sent it - I went through the case specific enquiry form, stated that the original was already sent and included a copy of my police cert. I wasn't going to bother but I thought better save than sorry! I phoned CIC after a long wait and was told the police certs are only valid from 6 months - I recall seeing this information on any site ! Best of luck everyone...

You need to provide a VALID police certificate by the time your PR is on process
They also requested me a new police certificate when my expired last Dec, so I needed to send a new one
Good luck
