Can someone please help me confirm which the right NOC code is. My job duties are below as per company website:

Job title: Mortgage Funder
Job description:

  • Maintains positive relationships with external partners such as mortgage brokers, title insurance companies, and solicitors
    Prepares and sends applicable solicitor instruction packages
    Liaises with solicitors to collect all required closing documentation
    Reviews legal mortgage documentation to ensure that it matches committed terms and is in compliance with established regulatory and company guidelines and policies
    Escalates any documentation issues to the Underwriter and/or Team Leader for review and sign off
    Coordinates with mortgage accounting for the release of mortgage funds on a timely basis
    Documents clear and complete notes within the mortgage underwriting system
    Responds to all inquiries within established turnaround times

A colleague who already applied for EE did so under 1242- Legal Admin. Assts.- specifically Mortgage and Real Estate Legal Assistants. He somewhat tweaked the JD to be:

· Keeping in contact with solicitors in regards to legal documentation required to fund mortgage deals;
· Reviewing and proofreading legal documentation to ensure compliance with internal company policies and governmental regulations;
· Ensuring mortgage proceeds are of correct amounts and properly deposited into lawyers’/notaries’ trust accounts, as per their requests;
· Handling and maintenance of confidential client files and records;
· Facilitating distribution of information (e.g. incoming electronic mail) within the office and across the relevant departments;
· Assisting with training of new hires through job shadowing and clarification of company policies and procedures;
· Performing other general office work as required.

I sent an email to noc@workingincanada.gc.ca and was told 6235- Financial Service Representatives.

Which is more closely related?

Thanks

On the face of it, it looks like 1242. Please note that NOC Team gives you suggestion based on the information that you have provided them. It is not necessary that you have to go with the suggestions of the NOC Team. However, please note that NOC should be selected on the basis of the match of actual duties and responsibilities carried out by you rather than the designation/title match in the NOC list. You need not match the duties and responsibilities word by word, but the idea is to have the closest match in terms of the spirit of the duties and responsibilities (at least 60%-70% match). If you have found an NOC where the duties and responsibilities are the same as what you worked, then go for that NOC, even if the NOC designation/title does not match.

Thanks Stanlee. So in my case where I have perused the NOC codes and have not found exactly what matches JD as per company's website, I can tweak it a little bit like my colleague and apply under 1242?

@Stanlee:

Okay here is what I have as my job description under 1242- Mortgage and Real Estate Legal Admin:

• Prepares and send applicable solicitor instruction packages
• Liaises with solicitor to collect all required closing documentation
• Reviews legal mortgage documentation to ensure it matches committed terms and is in compliance with established regulatory and company guidelines and policies
• Escalates any documentation issues to the Underwriter and/or Team Leader for review and sign off
• Coordinates with mortgage accounting department for the release of mortgage funds on a timely basis
• Sets up and maintains filing systems and controls confidential materials and documents
• Documents clear and complete notes within the mortgage underwriting system
• Responds to all inquiries within established turnaround times
• May supervise and train other staff in company policies and procedures and in the use of current software
• May perform other general office work as required such as distributing regular and electronic mail and other material to coordinate the flow of information internally

I have one more question. On the NOC site, it says "Legal administrative assistants perform a variety of secretarial and administrative duties in law offices, legal departments of large firms, real estate companies, land title offices, municipal, provincial and federal courts and government." I work in a financial institution, does that make any difference?

Lastly, I noticed you just got nominated today. Congratulations, you truly deserve it. Good luck

@BA2LAMAZ

No, it will not make any difference. Financial institution will be covered by "legal departments of financial institutions". Hence no need to worry about it.
