Hi, I arrived in canada in Calgary on 4th of April, Now i want to apply for oprn work permit. Any advice. There was no bag or laptop checking at canada airport. 8)

On what basis do you qualify for an open work permit?

Are you here on a student visa? If so, then you don't qualify for an open work permit. At best you will qualify for an off campus work permit (if you are attending a qualifying school) once you have completed six months of studies in Canada.

Thank you. I have checked it, you can only apply for a work permit after 6 months of study. My classes starts on 1st May. I am doing masters degree for 2 years but i want to change it to 1 year PGD. Any asdvice on that. Thanks for your help. :-\

It doe snot make sense to change from Masters to 1 year PGD program. After Masters (2 years), you will be eligible to get 3 years work permit, whereas postgraduate diploma will get you 8 month work permit.

What program you came in and which university?
