Put multiple pics per page to cut down on the paper. The descriptions don't need to be essays. One sentence, "John and Jane with Jane's parents at Christmas 2017", right under the picture is perfectly fine.
Don't we need to write DOB's of everyone in the picture as well?
Also, is it fine to have the description printed on the back of the paper having photographs?

No. That's under the part of the checklist called Supporting Documents for Sponsored Persons (Principal Applicant and All Family Members) and the instruction is aimed at the principal applicant.

In our case, we wanted to play it safe so we put the DOB of both the principal applicant and the sponsor. Additionally, photos require a brief description of who's in the photo and the occasion, but no DOB for everyone pictured.

Most of our pictures had only me and the sponsor, but a small number had a close relative (example: my mom), so without thinking we put their date of birth too. However, this wasn't necessary. If you accidentally do as we did, it's not the end of the world. The photos are still accepted, the application moves forward.

If you're printing the photos on a standard sheet of paper, you can easily type descriptions above or below the photo. If you have your photos professionally developed, just write on the back. Also, if you provide professional photos, make sure you place them in a smaller, clearly marked envelope. It helps keep things tidy.

No. You need the name and DOB of the applicant, which you should just put at the top of the page.

It makes no sense to me for the descriptions to be on the back when you are putting the photos in Word but up to you.

Got it, thanks!

One more query, should the photographs be sent in the ordered manner, I mean first the photographs before wedding, then wedding photographs and then after wedding outings including honeymoon?

Cool, thanks!

How many photographs are enough?
I'm thinking to put 50 photographs. Will this be fine?

The maximum is 20, clearly stated in the checklist. Do not send 50.

No need to overthink things like this. No one will reject your application based on the order that you put the photos in. Chronologically makes it look nice and organized, but none of it is terribly crucial.

Like np08, 50 is way too much. Go with 20. Order doesn't matter.
