One of my friend's friend informed him that his file was not accepted for EE this year. I am not sure if it is for PNP or federal, but the file was submitted last week.

Anybody has any knowledge of this ? Are they still accepting new profiles for EE federal ? I cannot find any resource online, please advise if anyone has any knowledge about it.

First things first...

EE and PNP are different things...

While EE isn't a year (Jan-Dec) thing...Its a continuous cyclical system. If you register today and if found eligible your profile will remain in the pool for the next 365 days (i mean an year) so there is no question of they accepting/rejecting your profile (for any of the immigration entry programs)

but Provincial Nomination Programs (also referred to by the acronym PNPs by many provinces) is governments local nomination program that they themselves initiate from time to time (generally follow the calendar year) with limited availability of seats for candidates that they choose to nominate from the list of applicants that they feel the need to in their province. So if and when these seats are filled for the year they tend to close the program. That is when you may hear news such as "They aren't accepting any more nominations."

Hope that clears the air...
