Does anyone know anything about this? I have heard it wil be lifted for all Mexicans and I also have read it will be lifted for ones who obtain a US visa.... I am just curious??

If you're applying outland, by the time they even consider lifting the visa requirement, your husband will probably have landed in Canada already.

Fair enough lol! I was just reading on the CIC website with something coming into affect and seems easy to obtain rather than a visa...which is the eTA which I asked about in another post because I know nothing about it

ETA is for those who are visa exempt. As of now, this doesn't include Mexico. Those from Mexico need a TRV.

Mexico lost the visa exemption requirements when it became one of the largest source of bogus refugees. A lot of mexicans came to Canada and claimed refugee status, claiming all kinds of benefits at taxpayers expense. Once they were close to be determined that they were going to lose their status, they left for mexico. It is like they were on extended vacation on taxpayer's dime.

OP is referring to the Liberal pre-election statement that they would remove visa requirements for Mexico:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/liberal-leader-promises-to-remove-visa-requirement-for-mexican-citizens/article26547474/

So while this rule is in place now, it's quite possible it's going to change quite soon. We just don't know when.

Yes. They did mentioned that. So when they lift the visa requirement, bogus refugees will come and take extended vacations in Canada all paid for by taxpayers. That's okay according to the liberal party? Right? They never clamped down on it during liberal mandate so what makes them clamp on them when it will occur again.

Again this is the country that where most of the illegal immigrants come from in the US. And the liberals want to remove the visa restrictions?

The best time to remove the visa restrictions is the day mexico stop being the major source of illegal immigrants in US.

Well maybe they should look at changing up the "free ride" refugee system if that is really the case.

I have seen this announced in the Mexican newspaper El Universal (link below), although nothing is said about when it will be in effect. I haven't seen any announcement at CBC News.

You do remember the court ruling that refugees from safe countries can now get full gold plated medical benefits as those from non-safe designation.

If you want to get rid of "free ride" refugee, reinstate the removal of medical benefits to refugees from safe country destination.
