Are spouses the only option for co sponsors?

I may be considering a family based visa for my fiance who lives abroad. However I would like to know if my parents could be our co sponsors? I live with them currently as my 1 income just won't cut it for the sponsorship, and to even live on my own at this point. With us both working in Canada though I know we would be fine.

If you're sponsoring a spouse, you can't have a co-sponsor, and you don't need one.

you dont need to meet a minimum income requirement for sponsoring a spouse....when my wife sponsored me she was getting funds from federal govt for school and had no income.
Also what class are you be going to sponsor under, since you guys are not married itll have to be commonlaw or conjugal
as it was said above, your parents can not act as co sponsors

I suppose this would classify as the Family Class. We would get married if this is in fact the route we would like to take. We had put it off because in fact we are about half way through a fiance visa for me to move to the united states. (I'm so nervous I could puke though, so I'm pulling together the information I need to pitch the idea of him moving to Canada instead.)

So there are no financial requirements for sponsoring a spouse with the family class? ( bear with me if I am using the wrong terms, I am mentally swamped with US Immigration terms ) He lives inthe United states, and I am a canadian resident. (Born and raised)

Also, do you guys happen to know the average time it takes to process a visa such as this? I'm reading 3 months on average on the web, but I'm having a hard time believing that!! lol

You don't need any income to sponsor a spouse or common-law/conjugal partner. But you can't sponsor a fiance to Canada. The USA has a 'fiance visa'; Canada doesn't.

On the forms there is a place for a cosponsor - this can only be your spouse. It is intended for cases where one person is sponsoring parents, for example, and doesn't have the required income.

But your parents can informally help you and your partner. They can write a letter for your application stating that they will allow you and your partner to live with them until you both can get enough money for a house, or that they will be giving you some money every month until your partner finds a job, etc. This letter helps prove your relationship is genuine by 1. showing your parents know about it and approve of it 2. showing you and your partner have discussed your future together and have made plans for your life together in Canada.

you can see time taken for the process on the cic website. You will see 30% cases for buffalo are done in 4 months and 80% in 10 months.
3 months is the best case scenario kind of thing, if your case is uncomplicated and all the T's are crossed and all the I's are dotted maybe itll be done in 3 months.....
