The only possibility of causing longer processing time is that maybe some of them are reviewing students' bridging work permits. It is the time they gradute from schools...
It's hard to say because I can't tell how many people from the spreadsheet near our dates/earlier than are still waiting for their OWP, and how many are N/A since they didn't apply. You know what I mean? For all I know I could be the only april 15 applicant on the spreadsheet that applied for an OWP. I kind of want to call them and see but I'm wondering if they even have more info than I have

Yes, you can try calling them. The agent I spoke to today was very nice. She confirmed that my OWP application won't be sent back.

How many people who applied on April 15 and later have gotten OWP approved?
It seems the spreadsheet does not reflect the most current situation... (?)

The agent I spoke to confirmed that they have received my OWP and I am eligible to have my OWP processed within 4 months of application.
It is pretty shocking that OWP could take that long to be approved...
They say that to everyone, that it will take 4 months to be processed but inland applicants have been given a priority due to the long processing time of their PR applications therefore the majority started receiving it a week to 3 weeks after AOR. I’d say they’re just so busy it might require a little bit more patience than usual, I truly hope you hear something very soon.

I am so pissed. Holy shit. I'm fuming.

I applied for a restoration of status along with my OWP with the application, as 3 different call center agents and several threads on this forum confirmed that I could send the restoration + OWP together and they'd get processed the same time. I even called last week and the lady confirmed that she could see my OWP application online and that everything looked good reg. payment etc.

I call in today and she tells me that since I was out of status, I won't get an OWP until AFTER Approval in principle. I'm sorry but what the actual fuck!? Had I known this I would've applied outland in April, but because so many sources, including CIC, told me that restorations and OWP get processed at the same time, I was alright with that, and went inland.

I just can't believe this. I'm at a loss for words.

Last Friday we received my common law partner OWP after a week I received an AOR. Hopefully, we get the mailed letter this week. I think still moving on the same pattern after a week of getting the AOR , OWP followed. Just an update. Thanks guys.

The restoration is not necessarily processed at the same time but once it is processed you should get the OWP.

She said that this wouldn't happen until after the AIP. I just called in again and the agent said the same thing, and "I'm sorry you got the wrong information from us before".

I'm fucking heartbroken because we've lost months now. I could've gone back in march and we could've been half-way through the outland process, but instead I'm going to have to withdraw and re-do everything outland.

The call center gives out misinformation all the time. If they do restore your status you should get the OWP. That's the whole point.

That's exactly what I said - she answered "no, you don't understand; you have to have a valid status when you apply for owp. because you didn't have one, it'll have to go to the AIP stage before you can get it." I then asked her why I'd even applied for a restoration of status if I had to wait for the AIP, because as far as I know if I don't restore my status, that's when I have to wait until the AIP stage to apply for an OWP. She just repeated the same thing. It was like talking to a wall.

I want to call them again but after 2 agents telling me the same thing, how do I even counter their argument?

Can anyone help... My application was received on April 23. I just realized that I didn't submit the OWP application package and the Fee receipts from my PR application for my spouse.

As I haven't received the AOR yet, I am not sure what to do now... Should I send in the OWP package immediately to the PR Application address? Or submit it immediately online (Since someone just said we can apply online after June 4th). Or wait for the AOR first??

My spouse's visitor visa also expires on Aug 22. I don't know if she can legally stay in Canada after that without a OWP...

I am just hoping our application don't get bounced back...

I’m sorry to tell you that regarding the PR app without a proof of payment it will be returned, it’s kinda too late to do this but try scanning it and Uploading it to the web form hopefully they can send it to the right department on time.

As for OWP you would have to send it to Edmonton directly if you’re applying by paper, not sure about the online application decision but contact IRCC to confirm and see if it makes a difference, either way expect a delay in processing it, it might take around 4 months which is the standard time.

One more thing, make sure you apply for OWP while your wife still in status and pay the correct amount which is $255 failing to do so will result in more delay in receiving the OWP, and one month before her visa expires she can apply for visitor record with a copy of the OWP and PR receipts and most likely she will get one.

I am sorry to hear your bad experience.
You don’t have to argue with them. It won’t help/ change anything. Like what @kcward7 said, they will process your work permit when they review your restoration application. It takes time. It won’t fall in the priority category, which allows inland OWP applications be processed within four months.
What you need to ask them is how is your restoration going. This may help you know when to expect your OWP approval. Restoration process usually takes long...may a couple of months.

Thanks for the answer! I did include the proof of payment for the PR application package though. Just missed the proof of payment and the application for the OWP (I AM SO DUMB ON THAT)... I am hoping they don't return our PR Application though... I can re-submit the OWP online after we get our AOR (HOPEFULLY!)

It's really good for you. It's been 5 business days for me, but I still can't link my OWP to my account. The agent also could not find the file number for me so it means they haven't started processing it, yet...

My restoration status was restored a few weeks after I submitted my application for sponsorship and OWP, will my work permit take 4 months?
