You are not alone! My application received on April 11th and nothing hear yet! I do not even need to do the test as I am over 54!!!!

Same here. Absolutely nothing since April 2019. And I am 54+ too...

IRCC says they are now processing applications received between April 21 and 27, 2019. My application was received on April 10 and I still have not received any updates. Is there anyone in the same situation as I am? The wait is really excruciating.
I had my test feb 2020 but nothing after. ... I know how frustrating it is man believe me .... Unfortunately they try to make any excuse now

I called IRCC yesterday. They said my application is still in background check. how can it still be in background check after more than 2 full years? I understand the virus affects the tests and oaths etc, but why has it affected the length of my background check by this much, I don't understand.

My friend i dont believe anything IRCC say anymore .... You have to understand that paper applications are not being worked on. Work from home has affected everyone now ... You will see people applying online more than a year after you and still get the citizenship before you.

We are in a tough situation and IRCC has already abandoned us so .... Try to forget any plans you have for a long time

Offices are working - just at a very reduced capacity due to different restrictions for different regions. You can try to webform them to ask for updates.

I understand the pain, I'm also an April applicant and it's only just getting finalized. Hang in there! It will come sooner than you expected :)

Background check involves criminality, security and immigration checks. Security is most likely what's slowing it down - it's performed by CSIS and not much IRCC can do about it unfortunately. Security checks can take a long time to perform. You can visit the pinned post on this forum "Application for Canadian Citizenship - A Comprehensive Guide", to understand more about these checks. I understand the frustration but it will come eventually! Good luck!

Just to give everyone a little bit of hope here.

I couldn't wait any longer so I emailed my interview officer directly this afternoon and got reply from her: our oaths are scheduled for May 10th and we should get our oath emails very soon :)
How did you get her email ?
