I applied April 2018, passed medical October 2018, status changed to “we are processing your application” on December 18, 2018.

When I check on ECAS, I see a new row " number 2: We started processing ***'s application on December 18, 2018.
Background check: We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
My application status is:
We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you.
Does anyone know what does it mean and what's the next step?
- We received ***'s application for permanent residence on April 23, 2018.
- We started processing ***'s application on December 18, 2018.
- Medical results have been received.

Its the longest step of the whole process. Depends on the country they are looking into.
Are you sure it’s the longest step? My wife is British and we submitted her police clearance upfront as required under the new process.
When background check became in process? Same day as 'we started processing on December 18?
Just wait and check again on the next business day. I think ppl here have a similar timeline.
Mine the same. and I remember before the Sponsorship application status was IN PROCESS?
