Hello people.

What steps can one take in this situation?

Currently resident in Nigeria
Express Entry FSW (Provincial Nominee)
AOR - April 23, 2018
Medicals passed - April 29, 2018
No further updates since medicals passed.

Do I send an email or call to inquire about the application since it has passed the 6 months regular processing time?
If yes, do I fill the web form (I am not sure of the office processing the application) and what number can I call?

Thank you.
You can use the web form to notify them as that is what was recommended by IRCC. Calling them can be efficient too but it so highly depends on the agent that answered your call. 99% of the time, the call is useless. So don't trust the outcome too much. I am not sure of the number to call for clients outside Canada. @bimale4bipeople or @cansha can help!

Goodluck!

Hi, so i wrote to IRCC requesting on my status.

The reply is very generic-as expected. But the email did encourage me to get in touch with the local high commission (See Below). Is there any benefit speaking to the high commission?

We invite you to contact them too in order to:

  • Report important changes,
  • Provide documents,
  • Add a representative or designated individual on file,
  • Obtain information regarding the status of your application, or
  • Enquire on an outcome of a request.

Hello People,

I submitted my e-APR under Express Entry (Federal Skilled Worker category). Following are the timelines.
AOR: Apr 5, 2018
Medicals Passed: Apr 13, 2018
Background Check in EE profile: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check.

After that I did not receive any update till date. It's been almost 7 months now. I called IRCC twice but they just read out the status which is available in my EE account and ask me to wait (indefinitely). I ordered GCMS notes on August 31, 2018 and received it on Oct 1, 2018 and it contained the following info.
Analyst Recommendation: Recommend Pass
R10 OK
A11.2: Appears Met
R75: FSW Minimum Requirements: Appears Met
R76: Selection Criteria: Appears Met
Ready to Finalize RPRF: Complete
Eligibility: Recommend Passed
Security: Not Started
Criminality: Not Started

I also submitted a request through Web-Form to Ottawa office asking them about the status and the reason why they are not starting my background check, but I received a very generic response saying that my profile is in progress and they will let me know if there is any update. Although there is not trace of anything negative in my GCMS notes, I don't understand why they are not initiating my background check. In addition to this I submitted another Web-Form recently and received a response on Oct 15, 2018 that they are still reviewing my eligibility. My eligibility was already done and I had passed it as per my GCMS notes. But now they said that I had passed eligibility but they are reviewing it again.

1) Did anyone face any such scenario where there is no update until almost 7 months and IRCC is still reviewing their eligibility? Eligibility is the step which is requires the least amount of time compared to all other steps. I have no criminal record or anything negative on my profile. I don't have any dependents and also I do not have more than 1 travel history.
2) Is it possible that they will reject my application or will they just keep it aside for indefinite amount of time?
3) Is there anything that someone can suggest me in this scenario? Anyone whom I can contact to get my application moving?

I seriously need some help. Any advice would be helpful.

I completely understand how you feel about your situation. Nobody ever wants to be in that scenario. Unfortunately, IRCC is not being honest with your application. From the GCMS note you posted, it is obvious that they have finished eligibility. I can only say that they are trying to cover up for their incompetence and unfortunately, there is little or nothing you can do. I feel they can even make up a story just to seem as if they are working hard on your file whereas your file is just warming up their shelf.
If you are inland, I recommend you contact your MP's office to see if they can help. Personally, am not sure if they can do alot but just try contacting them as it is better than nothing. Also, you can call IRCC and plead with the agent to take an action while you are on the phone. Maybe ask to talk with a supervisor. Your overall goal while on the call is to see if they can contact your VO and directly talk your case over! Someone get PPR while on the phone with them.
Finally, if you believe in God, I recommend you pray and keep the faith. They will not refuse your application as everything is fine based on your GCMS; its just the length of time that it will take that we ain't sure about. Be it as it may, it will surely end with praise!
All the best!!!

Thank you very much for the detailed reply. My sister who lives in Canada had contacted the local MP as well and they contacted IRCC on my behalf. IRCC informed the same that they are reviewing my eligibility again. And I strongly feel that you are right about the thing that they are not giving me the right information. My file seems to be just collecting dust.
Is there anyone above MP whom I can contact? Also, when my PR application is under process, and if I apply for Visitor Visa to Canada, does that lead to having a negative effect on my PR application?

No negative impact, just wait a little bit longer.
