Hi Folks! Since you are all further along in the process than me (September applicant) I thought you may have some insights: I received AOR1 last Wednesday and then those automatically generated letters followed (one confirming AOR to my partner who is the PA and then another on Friday night confirming my SA). In the letter to the PA it said we need to submit our Schedule A (PCC was provided upfront), but there is nothing in myGC key account that asks for it, nor can I upload it (for that reason I am guessing). The letter gives us 30 days to submit, as you know. What have you done when encountering this? Do you just wait it out or is it better to send Schedule A directly by mail to CPC Mississauga? Does calling the call centre help to get the download button activated or is this just one of the many glitches I've heard about? THanks a bunch, we are all for not wasting anymore time than we already have (application was returned once in June :/). Cheers!

So frustrated of waiting :(
When it was 18 months process, it was taking applicants average 8 months. And now it's 12 months process, it has already started 7th month and bgc is still not applicable. ☹:(
(April 18 applicant, AOR2 June 19)
I have similar timeline as yours, still waiting !!!

The same thing happened to me back in April - what I ended up doing was contacting the call center and they activated the button on gckey, it became available to me within 48 hours of my call :)

Hey Raj_g and @Sandhukang

As far as I know, there is no validity for a police certificate. Please allow me to explain this.

Police verification document is issued to verify that the applicant has no/some criminal records from the age of 18 till the issuance date. For April 2017 applicants, the issuance date may be in late April 2017 or may 2017. For instance, let's assume the PCC issuance date is May 05, 2017. so there is no point of re-issuance of PCC as it has already validated the period between the applicant's age of 18 till the issuance date. Having said this, please read below.

If CIC requests another PCC, it will be for the following reasons:
a. It cannot retrieve/verify the first one due to unexpected errors such as system error. Even here, they may ask you to resubmit the original one.
b. The application has taken over 12 months to process
c. It may ask verification for the period from the issuance date till date, ie May 05, 2017 - Oct 23, 2017.
  • This can happen only if the applicant has moved to another country from the country of residence and stayed over 6 months.
  • they found something extremely fishy in the security checks
  • NOTE: These two scenarios are highly unlikely for anyone's case.
Hence the question of a new PCC will be highly unlikely unless your file details are lost or the applicant becomes a person of questionable character or move to another country.
Thank you for this info. I will hold on to my new PCC until it is being asked for.

Hi there,

I personally called the CIC to inquire. After receiving different feedback from several agents, and different stories from people on the forum, we went ahead and sent the Schedule A and PCC through three different routes (Mail, IRCC Webform and GCKey account Technical Report). That ensured that they will receive the documents one way or the other since there were a lot of glitches on the CIC website.

We had never received the request email nor did any upload button ever appear on my wife's account. I hope this helps.

Thanks for this, probably wise.
SInce you have experience sending docs, I have another one for you: do you know if it's possible to send additional supporting documents for your case to CIC and have them consider them for the application? I am asking because I'm worried we haven't provided enough info about our cohabitation to prove we are common-law and feel I should send some more proof. Do you know if this gets accepted? We are still early in the process so I know they haven't gotten to that stage yet (indeed, still waiting to upload Shedule A haha). Thoughts?

You can always submit additional docs through IRCC webform and surely those will get accepted if they haven't already completed the related process/verification already. In the message section of IRCC webform write details about why you are submitting them and for what!

If you would like to go ahead and do that, I would suggest you call them and ask first if this would be possible and not hurt your application. As a rule of thumb, sending any additional documents that are not requested by them, can delay or hurt your application.

As an example, please see the following link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1137&top=29

Unless an agent give you his word that everything will be fine, I wouldn't risk it. Even then, the agent is just a customer service agent rather than the immigration officers.

Oh ok, that makes sense. Have you ever heard of CIC requesting more documents to support this kind of case or have they tended to simply refuse applications that they deem insufficient to prove common-law? This is directed at @Oulrish but also anyone else who has been following this forum for a while (I'm pretty new).

To tell you the truth, if you search the forum, you will find anything from 'returned applications with explanation' to request for 'additional/supplemental information'. At the start of the 'new changed rules' program it looked like they used to return a lot of application if things were missing but since have slowed down. They rather make request for any stuff they require. In any case you could contact the call centre to receive some reassurance.
