Hello everyone !

I am going to apply for Spousal Sponsorship for my wife (living in Canada) through Out-Land sponsorship program (Family sponsorship plan).

I have a question concerning police certificate required from Pakistan.

During my Permanent Residence process in which my wife was added as a "non-accompanying dependent", my wife got her Open Work Permit approved and came to Canada. During the end of my PR process, 4 months ago CIC requested for my wife's recent Police Certificate from Pakistan, which we applied and provided. My wife has not left Canada since then.
Yes

Now the question is while Sponsoring my spouse now, do I have to get a new Police Certificate for her ? (Even though we had it issued 4 months ago and my wife has not left Canada).

My PR application took 17 months and CIC only asked for my police certificate 1 time in the beginning of my application. This would seem that if you remain in Canada, then you don't need to get a new Police Certificate every 11-12 months.

Any thoughts on this mater, your guidance will be very helpful.

Kind regards,

- Subtain

Personally I would get every document available!! Especially if it is not expensive. If we have learned anything over the past months let it be a complete lack of confidence in what they say are their rules!

Thanks guys. You're right!

Your visa office?

Just checked the London VO timeline chart - it looks like they're processing apps received end of Nov 2015 at this time. So for us April applicants with filed in London, the current estimate would work wound Jan-Feb next year. Fingers crossed to maybe see a DM before this year is over!

They've been processing applicants from november though for about 2 months already. Havent seen any movements for a while in London VO. There was a random person approved who applied in January though so who knows.

A couple months ago I was thinking I might see something on my app around Jan-Feb, but recently I think its more likely to be around april.

That is unacceptable! I am still optimistic that a whole bunch of dms will suddenly be issued. There has not been any movement anywhere of significance.

summer months, slower times at VOs I assume. Holidays etc. London hasn't had much relief with backlog work recently as still has a lot of strain from a multutude of different applicants. seems like it ground to a halt for the last few months though with no real progress made since october applicants last year. almost 12 months for some people. me being at only 5 months doesn't make it seem like its almost over though.

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and I'd like to share my timeline with you all. :)

My husband and I are emotionally exhausted, we have seen each others 9 days in 9 months. It's a very hard process.

We are currently waiting on an answer for a Visitor Visa, so he can visit me in Canada for a few months. Crossing fingers !

Which country is your spouse from to be using Ottawa? The reason I ask is for the visitor visa. We share your exhaustion and wish you well and lots of encouragement.

Hi Sous02,
thank you for the nice words.

My husband is American, but he got denied access to the country last time he tried (we were coming back from Xmas holidays in his family)... it was a nightmare, we were not married at that time. I know USA is a visa exempt country, but we want to be as transparent as possible in our process with the government, which is why this time we ask for a temporary visa first.

There are no visas frum USA to Canada to my knowledge. I think you will have to address the issues asto why he was denied entry or even the pr will not be successful

Well, he was denied access to the country because I talked too much. :(
I said to the border agent that we got engaged during the holidays and we were going to get married soon and fill the forms for the permanent residency.... I wanted to be as honest as possible, but he got denied access to the country by my fault.

You must have met a very cranky guard! Next time he just needs to bring lots of proof as to why he is going to return to the USA like a job info, home etc. many Americans come up and stay even with a pr application in process. They just make it convincing as to why they are only visiting. I do not think there is a way to get prior approval because it is always up to the cbsa anyway. Good luck

Thank you. Everything is in the hands of my lawyer, I like to believe that she knows what she is doing..
