On a somewhat related issue I failed again trying to get my 12 yr old stepson here to visit for the summer. They declined based on purpose of visit and travel history. He has been to three countries already but of course not visa restricted countries. as for the purpose of visit how can you even debate that? They need to understand that a young man visiting his father and learning about his future country is just a little bit important. I really do not know what to say other than I will be glad when this is all over.

Really sorry to hear about the decline. If you don't mind me asking, did you include a personal letter explaining about getting to know his new country etc (pretty much what you said above?). I am sponsoring my husband, who has a daughter too. Her mom and us decided to have her complete High School in Jamaica before sponsorship. However, we're hoping to file a visitor visa after his PR to have her visit for the same reason - to become familiar with the different seasons and gradually merge into Canadian society.

Yes I did and not to discourage you but I wrote a very detailed letter. The same approach you are talking about. I assume your daughter is listed on your PR application? Would she not be granted status with everyone else? If I have learned one thing so much of this is just pure luck.

I'm glad that your husband got through. I know it's not exactly what you wanted to hear, but like you said also not the worst news possible. I bet your SA comes through in the next few days now!

We submitted everything including Medical (since it asked for all dependents' medical). However, there is a part on the dependent form asking if she will be accompanying him. We indicated no, then it asked for reasoning - where we expressed we wish for her to complete High School schooling in Jamaica first.

i totally believe in the luck factor "when the star aligns"
