Hello April 2016 outland ;D


Sent our application feb 26 from europe, Once the pkg arrived in Toronto on march 3. Canada post lost the whole application pkg so finally we got word today that they found it and it should be deliverd this week. So looks like we are in the April thread lets get those AOR and SA asap.

We're going to send out the app in May, but since there's obviously no May post yet, I'll write here.

I read somewhere in the forum that the date of the medical is crucial regarding the date I have to land in Canada. Is that so? I got my medical done mid March already, but like I said sending the app in May. Could this turn into a problem?
From what I understand, CIC might ask me for a new medical if the 1 year is up. But IF I get approved before March 2017, do I really have to land in Canada before that to get my PR? And if so, can I just land in Canada, spend a week or so and then go back to my home country to sort everything out?

You are 100% correct on everything. 1 year from.meds to land if visa issued before then.

If visa issued after then you need to redo the meds.

You can land and go back but you need to look into getting your pr card which is essential for retunring to canada. Omly sent to a canadian address from what ive read.

You need to provide enough wvidence of intent to return to canada (if the sponsor is living outside canada) so that would be the only issue on landing and then leaving.

I heard it from my relatives in Canada that new immigration law has reduced the spouse case processing time for new applicants to 3-6 months. Though this is not published yet.. Is it true ??

I was wondering if anyone photocopied the entire passport for the one being sponsored. I am a bit confused about this too. On the immigrant checklist, it says only the important page with all the info. What did you guys do?

We photocopied every page with stamps on them and of course the front page with all of the personal details.

Good luck with the app! Feel free to join our spreadsheet.

You wont be able to check app status until you hear from cic with your aor. This will issue your wife with a uci number which can then be used to log into ecas.

I have another question as I'm a bit nervous about the medical exam. My husband had thyroid cancer 4 years ago and it was removed. He takes hormone pills. Will it affect his application? What do you think? we're being upfront about it.

I dont think they can refuse you based on a condition which is no longer an issue. Be honeat in the medical exam and all will be fine.
