My application was returned (letter dated May 14; it was mailed May 15). Reason: they are asking me to "provide photocopies of the biographical pages of all passports for the (4) year period preceding the date of [the] application". But I DID include that.

That is sad. Exact thing happened with me when i sent my Immigration file. They returned the file because i didnt provide them with a photocopy of my passport But i did and i found the photocopy in the reteruned package. Actually, i didnt complain i just sent a new file.

There is no point in contacting them, especially if they sent the package back. I would redo them all together and add the cover letter with detailed description of what you are sending plus add all the t4 & option c for all the years lived in Canada to prevent any other questions and hesitations about the residence period.

That's a good idea, but there will have to be some modifications in the application and I don't know if that'll count as 're-submitting' or not, and how should I proceed. Also, I should just photocopy the entire passports, I don't want another application returned despite being complete.

Our passports were renued in 2009 & according to our country rules they take the old passport away replacing with new one. So basically there is no way for us to get a copy of the old passports. That could end with disaster.
What to do in that case?

t4 is a pay stub information for the complete working period . option c is a short summary of tax return printout.

Yes, everything is stapled together (they stapled it) and absolutely no document is missing from the application. It's all there.

what exactly they said in the letter of the explanation of the return? I just cannot believe in it.

Yes, I would send them the copy of all passport pages with all other proof of continuous residence in Canada. It's always better to send them more than they ask than not enough....just in case.

It doesn't show anything on ecas.

I'll send it as a new one (because of the modifications which will be made) and include the letter they sent about it being incomplete along with an explanation for the update. Maybe the application being returned will actually be better. What made me very nervous and upset was my in-laws' reaction, not the fact that CIC returned the papers.

The first passport (issued in 2006) had 3 biographical pages, and the new one (issued in 2012, new model) has 2 biographical pages.

Maybe they just got confused between old and new passports. I remember when we were applying for Ontario photo ID card, they kept arguing with us why we do not have the signature on the same page as the biographical info. All their complaints should be directed to our country authorities not to us! We did not design our passports!
