Hi guys!
It's been a while and I wanted to update my status
I have finished my landing on May 6, 2014 midnight when I flew back into Vancouver from my trip in US. You will be able to see my timelines in my profile, if you were wondering about that.
I can't believe that the process is all done and I'm a permanent resident!!!
So... my landing experience is below.
The landing process was very quick and simple. Because my flight arrived on midnight, the immigration office was closed. I was worried that I'd be made to wait. I mentioned to the CBSA agent at customs (right after you get off the plane) that I'm doing the landing for PR. You will probably be asked the basic mandatory questions like, where were you and where is your current address, but nothing further at this moment. I was directed to retrieve my luggage and proceed to the exit as you would leave the airport and tell the officer when handing in your customs declaration paper that I needed to do the landing.
I did exactly that and then was told to wait in line in the room right to the side where I'd get this done. It was about a 5 min wait until the next CBSA agent was ready to help me. He looked at my paper and told me that he'll need to ask some mandatory questions, which turned out to be the ones that are listed on the CoPR. eg, have you committed any crimes.
And obviously, I answered "No" for all of them, and he asked for my current address in Canada. I'd be mailed my PR card to that address.
Finally, he signed the bottom of the CoPR and asked me to sign as well. And that was it. I was officially a Permanent Resident from that point.
My experience was very pleasant, I didn't have to fumble to get certain documents or failed to answer any questions (mostly because there wasn't a need for this). I'd say the entire process was about 15 min max.
If you have any questions, please ask away! I'm just so relieved and over the moon to be able to share my experience with you as a PR.
Have a wonderful day!!!
