Hello group members......
Any updates from anybody.... It seems like cic is going randomly as few Feb applicants and few march applicants have also received medical requests but most are still waiting...

Could someone who already received the BOWP clarify the application process for me please?
When the BOWP application gets approved, do you get the work permit as a hardcopy send to you in the mail?
Or do you get an email with a letter of invitation and you have to flagpole to activate the workpermit?

You get a hardcopy in the mail. No need to flagpole.

Thanks, Vic! I will be travelling by the time I expect my BOWP in the mail then, do
you think there's going to be issues re-entering Canada on my old WP, as my BOWP will be
at home ( Canadian Address ) in my mailbox

I travelled with my old WP 2 months before it's expiry date, after my BOWP application was submitted online, and had no problems at the border. The officer did bring to my attention that there were 2 months left on the current permit and I replied that I already have new WP application pending (as a proof I printed out the message from "My CIC account" that they send you on the day you apply online), and the officer was very OK with that, and didn't care to see the proof. You should be fine, but just in case print the same page I did. It basically confirms that CIC has received your new WP application. If you applied online CIC will also send you a message to your "MY CIC account" confirming that your BOWP was approved. In my case I received that message 6-7 days before the actual hardcopy showed up in the mailbox. If you get that message on time before your trip, print that out as well. It's not a WP, but a solid proof that you were approved and just haven't received the hardcopy yet.

Thing is, I expect the BOWP to be approved while I am in the states. My current WP expires in March 2014, but for
my job I need the BOWP and for what I know, as soon as CIC issues a new WP the previous one becomes invalid.
But if I keep my old WP, proof for the application of the new one I should be good, right?

Right. Make sure you return back to Canada before March 14th, and have a proof of BOWP application (just in case).

I'll gone for only 2 weeks. Not a long trip, but I expect the BOWP to be issued while I'm away.
That's why I was asking. I'll just wing it and see what happens 8)

That seems fine. I have entered canada when my WP was bound to expire in 2 mnts. I was asked when would I leave. I replied saying that I have applied for a new WP and i would recive that shortly also If I dnt receive I will leave in 2 mnts.
They were okay with that. Just ensure ur BOWP is safe.

Hey guys on a positive note, when they get to the majority of the 'app received' applicants in March and April it may start to run quicker.

What ever method they had in mind putting those applicants in 'in process' pretty much immediately means they've got through maybe a quarter to a half already.

I know for one i thought these select few going in process so soon was BS.
But it may of done as a favour in a strange way.

Hope I'm right, but il wait, there's still apllicamts from December waiting. Really feel for them !!

That happens all the time. Simply try again later and you'll get access again.
