LANDED!
It was very easy and painless - we simply drove down to the border. The officials at the Canadian checkpoint instructed us to drive through to the USA checkpoint, where they issued a form for me to sign (withdrawal of application to enter USA), and turned us back around to the Canadian checkpoint.
Back at the Canadian checkpoint, the process was quick and straight-forward. They took my paperwork and asked me to sit in a waiting room for a few minutes, then returned with a couple of things for me to sign. The immigration officer asked me to write my mailing address, advised me of my rights as a permanent resident, and sent me on my way. He was friendly and polite, with a few cheeky jokes to ease the nerves.
So glad it's finally properly over, and I'm off to pop a bottle of wine!
