Hello members,
Am happy to land on this link and what i have read here is almost similar to my case. In fact i did not explain alot in my application, we were only writing one or two sentences and now i can see why they had to call for interview.

Am due for interview late October and i feel abit scared due to some issues that iam aware of in my application. Our marriage is genuine and we are married happy waiting to be together soon if God allows. I have read so many think on this forum that i ended reflecting on our applications.
Briefly, we have age difference of 16years my husband older, he is divorced 1 child, i have never been married before but i have 2 children from 2 difference relationship (i was a single mother before marrying my husband), we met online and got married after 5months, we come from different countries both in East Africa, he visited my country for few days and later we went to his country, at our Civil marriage i had only 2 friends who attended but most of his relatives/friends were there at our marriage and reception.
However, i have prints of our all our chats of the dating site, many emails, western union receipts, many photos of our relationship, marriage & honeymoon together, viber call history, whatsapp text message history, skype calls, boarding passes, his divorce certificate, our marriage certificate e.t.c
Members please advise, what can i do to show the visa officer on our interview that my marriage is genuine and we are truely in love.
waiting eagerly to read from you.
Regards,
Africalady

I´m suppose to have an interview but they havent set a date yet , I dont think it has to do anything wit time since my husband & I dated since high school , I moved back to mexico and after 12 monnths of being apart we got marry , we send alot of proof , wedding pictures , emails , western union , family pictures/our pictures alone , family letters , tickets from when we first started dating , borarding passes of him and his family , etc etc and we still have to go in for an interview ! :/ we been together for almost 3 years , married for almost a year and in a long distance relationship for 23 months ! Im not sure why they require an interview :S but I believe all we can do is bring alot of proof , nd try and make them see how much we love our spouses !!!

@aquarian not all people who get interviewed are refused automatically. I met one applicant in a seminar and she was bombarded with questions and she got into a point that she got pissed and showed her bank account online to prove she's not just after the money. (im not saying your husband has to do this). After a week or two she got her passport back with visa stamped on it.

the VOs need a very strong reason to deny a case. If you're going to address the red flags in this interview you have a very good chance of getting approved. tell him to bring as much evidence as he can. and make sure he can back up the things he'll say or his reasons with evidences. do not be scared. you dont need to be scared if your relationship is genuine. it will shine through in the evidences you'll provide.

good luck!

congrats aquarian! you are lucky! we are still waiting in vain for ours.

Congrats Aquarian!

Your application had quite a bit of red flags, and the odds seemed against you, but you persevered, and got through it. Really happy for you. Now just sit back and relax!

Congratulations to Aquarian &husband! for anybody else waiting for the interview and want to know what to expect in the interview, this is an advise from a student in the legal aid office from UBC:

I spoke to my supervising lawyer about your husband’s upcoming interview. We can offer the following advice:

The success of your husband’s interview will largely depend on his knowledge and familiarity with the details of your application. He must have a clear understanding of the details of your relationship, including important dates, places, and individuals who have played a role in your time together. He will almost certainly be asked about the general narrative and timeline of your relationship. Other questions he should consider: why is he coming to Canada (they want to know if the relationship is genuine, or if he is just trying to immigrate to Canada by any means necessary)? Where is he planning on living? Also, CIC may ask you to explain how your relationship fits within your culture(s).

Applications can be rejected based on inconsistencies between the information provided on the original forms, any information given by you, and information given by your husband in the interview. Overall, the genuineness of your relationship is everything here – it must be clear and evident to the interviewer.
