Dear Visa officer,
In order to extend my stay in Canada i must show ties to my home country that will prove that i'll leave Canada at the end of the extension period, but the truth, dear officer, is that i have absolutely no ties to my home country and i left my studies (the only tie) back home to stay here.
The truth also is that i don't have plane ticket back home for the future simply because i'm not planning to leave Canada until the sponsorship process is finished, then we are planning to go visit my family.
If CIC sees fit that i must leave Canada then of course i'll respect the decision, i just really wanna stay with my wife because i can't see myself without her.
I chose to apply with extreme honesty as i believe everything can be achieved with pure honesty. I'm also writing this note in average language to express myself as well as possible.
With your permission, Sir/Madam, i'm asking to extend my stay until December 2016 as it is expected that the immigration process will be finished by that time.
Your decision will be respected, no matter what it is. Thank you.

Hi everybody,
Since it's a hot and overwhelmed subject i wanted to share my experience so maybe it'll help others.
I'm a visitor in canada, i've been a visitor since January 2015, until July 2017 apparently. After 6 months from entering Canada i extended my stay as a visitor, i got married in that time and we started outland process but i wanted to stay here with my wife, so i applied again, only the reviews and topics on this matter weren't exactly supporting, people and friends told me that i have to prove strong ties to my home country and have to do this and that, so i decided to go solo and do whatever i think is right, i applied in December 2015, i filled the forms and i wrote a personal note, the letter above.

The result: I got 18 months of extension even though all i needed is just one year!

I hope this may help.

That's amazing! I'm also a strong believer in complete honesty and your example shows that it can be (and should be) the right path.

Congratulations!

How did you manage to get the Visa in the first place?
Means how did you initiate the process?

Kindly provide some guidance... Need to follow the same...

Thanks.

Thank you :)

To be honest i still don't exactly know what's a visa, i only use this word with my credit card.
On New year's eve, 2014/2015, i decided that i wanna go to Canada instead of Australia, 13 days after that i landed in Toronto Airport, got out of the plane, to the waiting line, then showed my passport to the visa officer, answered questions like purpose and length of stay and money matters, then got a stamp on my passport saying Valid until July 13th 2015, and then entered Canada for the first time. I don't know if that is considered a visa or not.

Yes, this is considered a temporary residence visa (TRV, or more commonly known as a visitor visa).

Oh i just remembered someone here explained to me once that i'm on a "visitor status" not "visitor visa" cuz i'm from visa exempt country so i don't need visa to enter Canada. For example i can't just go to the states as a visitor like i did in Canada, i have to apply then go to an interview and only after that they may allow me to visit, according to my understanding that's a visa.

Hi,
My brother got the visitor visa about 4 years back. But he never travelled to canada. The visa was applicable till 10 years. So can he still travel on same visa or he needs to reapply for visa ?

If a TRV is valid there is no reason why not to travel on this visa. Just make sure that nothing bad happened to him making him inadmissible as the visa doesn't grand unconditional right to enter the country. Officer at the border can ask different questions and determine the admissibility.

Thanks a lot. Someone told him that if he didn’t travel within a year when visa was issued then he needs to reapply for visa but I couldn’t such information on cic website.

What that someone said is incorrect.
Your brother can still travel as long as his visitor visa is still valid.
