Hi,

I have a question, I'm on my PGWP (work permit) in canada, my wife is planning to move here with me, can she first come here on a visitor visa and then apply for Spousal open work permit from inland ?

Thank you!

Hi Ivric, Im following this thread also :), I believe that is possible for sure, I'd like to know what others gonna say too . My wife and daughter already have visitor visa, but i think its faster if i apply their open work and study permit respectively inside Canada.

Hi Astcom ,

Would you mind telling me did you apply for ur family visit visa while you were on PGWP and how did u manage to establish the ties back home that you got their TRV as I am in a similar position but don't have a job yet but still have a strong bank statement

Thanks

Dont apply visitor visa for you spouse you will get refusal. Because there is an exceptional category for spouses. My suggestion to you is Spouse open work permit.

Good luck!!

But from what I've heard so far is I was advised to apply for visitor visa for my spouse and then apply for Spousal open work permit from inland.

it depends on you, you can check at the cic website. there is separate category for spouse that is why they called Spouse open work permit.

Hi Ravi, but my spouse and kid already have Visitor Visa or TRV, they can go anytime in Canada. The requirements says, if I (a work permit holder of NOC A) am already working and settled in Canada, and my wife decides to get Open work permit then it is just Fine i believe.

hi Alica, we just took visitor visa last year and got approved. not sure how PGWP works. I have a LMIA approved work permit currently.

So if I understand you correctly you guys all applied for visitor visas and then you applied for the LMIA and got the work permit inside Canada only ?

HI Alica, i got the LMIA approved, but i applied my work permit outside Canada (even if i have visitor visa).

Understood man . Appreciate it .

Do you think I have a chance to get an approval for my wife visit visa and son keeping in mind I do have a PGWP but don't have a job yet but do have a solid bank statements to support their expenses

astacom so did you apply for spousal open work permit yet ?

Thanks everyone. Going ahead and applying and keeping fingers crossed. Do u think applying for their visit visa while I am back in the country and stating they would attend my convocation and come back with me be a good enough reason to satisfy them ?
