Hi Everyone

I need help in regards to my mum's visitor application. She's currently resides in China on a family visa which lets her stay long term. Her current Canadian Visa expires Feb 2018.

Her background:

1. Age is 55 years
2. Has visited China over 23 years but only 2 weeks visits and has visited Canada for 2 days only
3. Used to have a house and business in home country but she sold them about 3 months ago
4. She has her own house in China with bank accounts over $100k cad
5. Two kids, I am PR and my brother is on Canadian work permit.

The reason why she wants to apply from China and not in home country because my father was diagnosed with early stage kidney cancer. Due to my father's sickness, they quickly sold the house and business and moved to China for treatment.

Now that my parents are staying long term in China, my mum wants to come visitor for 2 weeks at least to see me and my brother. My concerns are her home ties because she literally has none except in China. For her reasons why she's not applying from home country is because of my dad as he needs to visit the hospital in China weekly for treatments.

Please advise if its possible to apply visa from China and not in home country

You can apply on her behalf online, and it will be forwarded to either the appropriate office or to one that takes on diverted workload.

Also, China doesn't actually process TRV applications...it will be Hong Kong for Chinese residents.
If your home country is a neighboring country, it may actually be processed in Hong Kong instead: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...-ircc/offices/international-visa-offices.html

Show as many ties to China to possible, and explain why they have been living in China, etc.

Well the only reason why they'e living in China is because of my dad's cancer treatment. Would a letter from his doctor in charge should be included in the application?

I'm not sure, to be honest. Essentially, you should think of ways to show that the treatment is not available in your home country but that it can be attained in China. I think your dad's situation will be considered for your mom's application, but her having a house in China and her bank accounts (maybe she should also briefly explain how she attained that much, her business, etc.), it can also work.

Okay thanks for answering my questions. I will try and gather as much documents and submit it and hope for the best. Who knows what is the outcome if I don't try.
