Hi all,

A friend of mine is currently in Canada with an Open Work Permit status (she holds a Post Graduate Work Permit).

Her father (in Indonesia, a NON visa exempt country) is currently very sick, and she wishes to visit him for about 3-4 weeks in Indonesia. She plans to return to Canada, and given that she's from a non visa exempt country, she will need to get a TRV in order to be able to return to Canada.

She's currently still here in Canada. Last night she submitted her TRV application online (via the CIC portal). Her original plan was to depart to Indonesia in about 2-3 weeks from now. But due to her dad's condition, she's thinking about leaving much sooner (i.e.: a few days from today).

This means that by the time the CIC (Ottawa, I think?) requests for her passport, she will already be in Indonesia.

What she's thinking of doing (once the CIC requests for her passport) are the following:

1. She sends her passport to me (I am in Canada) from Indonesia, and then I send it to the CIC on her behalf, and have the CIC return it to me, and then I mail it back to her in Indonesia (with the new TRV already glued on the passport.)

OR

2. She sends her passport from Indonesia to the CIC, and request them to return it to her in Indonesia.

Would any of the above 2 options work? Do you think the CIC would be willing to do that? Any potential pitfalls she needs to be aware of?
