Hi,

I'm just about finished with all the paperwork for my PR. Will mail it to Sydney in the next few days. My husband is Canadian. He will be my sponsor. We made / raised two biological, Canadian children together. We've been living together for a long time, married after being together several years. I've completed all the paperwork thoroughly. We really do want to permanently settle in Canada. I would be amazed if I didn't get my PR.

Like the title says, I would like to go to Canadian university in September 2019. The question is, should I also apply for a study visa? Ideally, I'm hoping to have the PR status before school starts, so it wouldn't be necessary. Plus, it's much cheaper to go to university as a PR. But the timing is tight. If it takes 12 months, I'll get the PR status right before school starts.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Is this a realistic plan? I would also like to possibly go into Canada before I get my PR status using my visitor visa. Would the border agents have any issue with that? I will be traveling with 2 children, 1 dog and 1 cat. Add to that the fact that I will be trying to attend university in September, they might not let me in. Maybe it would be better to just stay overseas until I get my PR status, then hope I get it in time for school?

Also, I won't need to pay the $150 for each of my two Canadian children, right.? It says the $150 is for "any dependent child on the application".

Thanks for your thoughts / suggestions.

It sounds like you are applying Outland, correct? In that case, I believe there is a chance you could start studying in Canada in September, since the process doesn’t take as long as inland applications. But since you have to apply to the university well ahead of time, I’m not sure if that would still make you an international student (since you probably won’t have the PR status before starting the application process) and lead you to still having to pay the high fees. I am personally not that knowledgeable in this area, but I also wanna study in Canada, but am waiting to apply until my PR status goes through, just to be sure. Besides, if it does take longer to process you PR application, you definitely cannot start studying without a study permit.

Hi

Come back in 8-9 months to ask about the study permit. Far too early right now and it is quite possible that the PR app will be approved by then.

You can enter a a visitor. There is no need to mention anything about school. Having the pets with you isn't the greatest idea.

Your children are not included as dependents in the app.

That's a good point. I still haven't looked at the details of applying to university and whether I would have to apply as an international student or not. I don't think I would have to pay tuition until school starts, so perhaps I could change my status with the school after applying and before school starts to avoid paying high fees, assuming I get the PR before school starts.
