Hi Experts,

I need an emergent help! I have no idea what to do!

I have landed in Canada on September 12, 2006 and have been traveling back and forth and got around 300 days. I know that Im not meeting the requirements but I need to keep this residency since my son lives in Vancouver who is 19 years old and I have to at least visit him twice a year. Also my daughter is 10 years old and Ill be sending her to canada in two years. she also has the permanent residency card. This card expires on Oct 2011. right now Im living in Iran and I am a doctor, working in a clinic in Tehran. My wife is a doctor and we are a busy couple! Now I want to at least apply and see if there is anyway that I can get the card based on my situation but I don't know how! To apply for renewal I have to be in Canada and stay until I get my card but the problem is I can't!!!!!!

My son has filled 3 years and is eligible for residency, is there anyway he can sponsor us if we lose our residency?

also is it possible that I apply and then go back to Iran and my son pick up the cards? or do we have to be there? how about if I tell them that there is an emergency and I have to go back to iran? is it possible to get something to come back and get the cards?
do we have to send the PR cards we have right now? or do they just want the copy?

please answer ASAP because I realllllyyyy neeed to decide something!

Thanks

PR is for people who want to live in Canada. That is why there are residency requirements. It doesn't sound like you are wanting to live in Canada so you do not actually need a PR. You can visit with a multiple entry visit visa for example. If you try to renew your PR card with less than 730 days in Canada and no H&C grounds for not living in Canada, you will be refused and lose your PR.

Your daughter must also meet the residency requirements to keep her PR.

Your son can sponsor you, your wife and your daughter who is your dependent child as long as he is making enough money to support all of you. For a family of 4, including himself, he needs to be making $41,307 a year. If he is making that or more, he can apply to sponsor you. It currently takes 4-5 years to sponsor parents because it is not exactly a high priority immigration class. If you lose your PR, it would be faster for you to apply under the skilled worker program.
