Applying for permanent residency and work/study permit at the same time?

We are almost ready to submit the application for wife's (here on a visitor visa at the moment) permanent residency. Finally!
I have a question regarding work/study permit I hope someone may be able to advise on.
Would you recommend to submit the application for them at the same time in the same envelope even?
Can you apply for both work and study along with PR simultaneously?
Appreciate any advice and/or links on the topic. Thanks.

You need to provide a bit more info. Is she applying inland and submitting an OWP app? Or does she qualify separately for a work permit (i.e. has a job offer and an LMO)? Has she been accepted to a college/university in Canada? She would require an acceptance letter to apply for a study permit.

If she's applying for an OWP based on an inland PR app, then send them together, though I would recommend putting the OWP app in a separate envelope within the main envelope.

Quite right. My apologies. She is applying inland for her permanent resident visa (family class) and I am sponsoring her (husband).

If you submit it electronically, they will process it immediately and it will be refused, as she doesn't yet qualify for an OWP.

Submit the OWP application with the PR app to ensure that it is processed at the proper time, after Stage 1 approval. I would also advise that you write something like "OWP with inland sponsorship" at the top of the OWP form, to prevent it from being processed early.

You could try. Be aware that it is the OWP app that provides Implied Status, not the PR app. If your wife doesn't submit it along with the PR app, she will need to continue to extend her visitor status.

I believe that the correct form (for someone that has never had a WP in Canada) is IMM5710E

I'm not sure if an OWP can be used for studying though.

Make sure that you write something like: `OWP SUBMITTED WITH INLAND SPONSORSHIP. PROCESS AFTER AIP' across the top of the OWP application, otherwise they may process it right away, at which point it would be denied.

There is no specific application for an OWP. It is the Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada as a Worker and it's fairly easy to fill out, just follow the guide. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp,

As it's a generic work permit form, it asks for details like employer and LMO, which aren't required for an OWP. Write "Open Work Permit" in those spots. For question 3, she can select "A work permit with a new employer".

A couple of questions if I may regarding IMM5710.

Details of intended work in Canada section Question #3 asks for the address, job title and description. As my wife has no idea yet where she will apply for a job I assume I can just type "unknown yet". Also it asks for duration of expected employment I suppose I should put

Coming into Canada section Question #1 asks the date and place of original entry to Canada. Would that be the very first time my wife visited Canada as a child long ago or the time she came to Canada recently and get her visitor visa (a few years ago)?

Coming into Canada section Question #4 asks about the visitor visa document # but I am sure what value this is from the document as there are about 3 different numbers at the top right. Any idea which would be the correct one?

1. The person who looks at the application will understand that it's an OWP app but you can just put something like "Open Work Permit" for the questions that ask for specific employment details.

So I have we have my wife's PR documents in one big envelope and shortly the OWP about to go in another and then into one big Xpresspost envelope ready to send off to Alberta.
