Dear friends, I would appreciate it if you could share your thoughts on my situation;

I have a 4 year old son who was born out of wedlock in South Africa. I am in USA and he is currently in South Africa with his mom. Now here are the facts.

1. His birth certificate does state that I am his father.
2. His mom has signed the IMM 5604 and she is ok with him living with me in Canada, we feel that this will give him a better education and shot at life
3. She has also made another affidavit stating that I was living with him before I left South Africa a year ago, as well as stating that I have been responsible for him financially since he was born.
4. My son travels on a South African passport and I use a Swaziland passport
5. I am still not married

I have received an ITA and I have gathered all the required paperwork & meds for me and my son, I just need to hit the send button now. Now my questions are

1. Do these documents suffice to have my son's PR granted together with mine.
2. Will including my son in my application likely cause delays in the process (compared to if I applied alone)
3. Does it make more sense to include him on my PR application now, or is it better to wait until I get my PR and then sponsor him (I would rather do it all at once, and get over and done with this process so he can start primary school in Canada)
4. Is there anything else that I may include in the application that could help with my son's PR
5. Does the process of getting a PR really take 6 months or less from date of submission as they state on the CIC website? With my situation, is it reasonable to expect this timeline

Thanks

I can't comment on the documents as I have no knowledge or experience there, but yes, in general, it's better to include your son in your application now as accompanying you to Canada, rather than sponsor him at a later date.
There's no difference with the process whether you choose to include him or not in your application...you will have to submit his medicals and documents either way.

Good luck with your application.

If you have included him in the Express Entry profile, and you have all the documents as requested by COC, then there is no reason not to include him in the application.

All the best!!
