Was wondering if anyone can help explain to me the financial requirements from immigrating when going as a couple.

My fiancé and I are applying from the UK. we're going under the skilled worker option. It states that 'you have to have enough monitory funds to support yourself and any accompanying family members when you arrive in Canada.'
Number of family members: 1 = $12,475 (Canadian dollars)
Number of family members: 2 = $15'531

So my question is what amount do we need jointly or individually as we share our savings?
I don't understand if we consider each other 'family members' as we are engaged. Is family members just considered children/dependants (In which case, if I went as his dependant how much would we/ he need?)

Thank you in advance for any help.

To consider it as family depends on your living terms as an engaged couple.
You can go for "common law" marital status. But for that status to apply, here are the conditions:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=346&top=14
If you're on "common law", that means you can apply together, and the principal applicant needs to show a minimum of 15,531CA$ (2 family members) in an account in his name, your name, or joint account with both your names, one of you will be the other's dependent.

If you don't satisfy these common law requirement, I'm afraid each one of you will have to fill in a seperate PR application. In that case, each one of you will have to show funds of at least 12,475CA$ in the applicant's name.

Family members include everyone, not just children. (e.g Father+Mother+1 Child=3 Family members)
