I got my study permit approved on March 29, 2018. In the document issued to me by the embassy, it said:

"A permit authorizing your studies will be issued to you on your arrival to Canada following an examination by an officer of the Canada Border Services Agency, subject to your compliance with the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and its Regulations. The officer will ask to see this letter, your passport and may request to see your supporting documents, such as the letter of acceptance from your educational institution."

The thing is, I am already inside Canada. I applied for my study permit from inside Canada through Los Angeles. Do I need to go to the Canada Border Services Agency to have my passport stamped or to have my study permit issued to me? Does anybody know the process?

I provided my Canadian address, as I don't have a US address. My issue is that I do not have a US visa. Any other way to do it? I have to start school by May 2018.

Yes, you need to flagpole to activate your study permit. You had to apply through LA because you did not qualify to apply for a status change within Canada.

I see. Thanks for that! I have some more questions:
1. Do I need a US visa to flagpole?
2. Will there be any issue upon re-entry to Canada?
3. What documents will I need to bring other than passport, letter issued by the embassy, and letter of acceptance from the school?
4. Is there an immigration interview at the border?

1. No.

2. Shouldn't be.

3. Your confirmation should tell you what you need.

4. CBSA may ask you questions.

What kinds of questions are typically asked by immigration? If they ask for financial evidence, then I will need to present a bank statement. In this case, how much should I have at least? I had more funds before I applied for my study permit, but due to tuition payment, medical exam fees, and other personal expenses, I have less funds now. Note that I'm here for a 1 year program.

Questions about your intent.

I'd say at least $15000 to cover your living expenses.

Got it. I'm also living in my uncle's place for free, so I do not have to pay for rent. However, do they need to show any sort of proof (like a bank statement or affidavit)? Also, do I need to present a return ticket back to my home country? I'm planning to apply for a PGWP afterwards so I don't really have a definite return date at this point in time.

If you don't have the funds, then yes, show proof from your uncle. You don't need a return ticket.

Ok awesome! There won't be any chance of denial upon re-entry, right? As long as my TRV is valid and that I have the necessary documents and sufficient funds? I don't want to end up in a no man's land.

Another question I have is -- Is there another way to activate my study permit in-land (without crossing the border)? Just checking out my alternatives.

You do not have the right of entry to Canada, so there is no guarantee.

no you will not. because you will never be at any no man's land, US Customs will take you in and then throw you back in Canada :p. yeah Canadian CBS can arrest or can do anything they do normally. so there is nothing to worry.

Hi,
May I ask what was you status in Canada when you applied? I want to apply for study permit from within Canada after I enter with visitor visa. I have admission from a university with funds and I don't know if with visitor visa I can apply for inside Canada or not? And if I have to do biometrics again?
