Just curious,
I am a Canadian citizen living in Bangkok and am married to a Thai. We applied for her PR in January from here in Bangkok. Have been approved as her sponsor but awaiting her PR card. Frustrating wait as we want to get going. Wondering if there's a way to wait it out inside Canada, specifically in N.B Recently my wife has been doing some reading about various Thai women in the same situation as ours. She found out that once the husband was approved as the sponsor, that the principal applicant could then go to Canada on a tourist visa and await the answer on the status of the PR. Do you know if this is possible? If so, would she be able to drive a car if she has an international driver's licence? Also, if an interview were necessary for her with regards to PR, would she need to leave the country or could it be done via skype or a representative in Saint John or N.B? Would she need to leave Canada to pick up the PR card or could it be mailed? Also a bit unclear about health insurance. She read that some women were able to obtain medicare with just proof of sponsorship approval, though I know we would need to buy private insurance for at least the first 3 months. If anyone you can help me with some of these answers I would be very grateful.
